Earth Hour Continues In New York

New Yorkers have had the opportunity to experience the green nirvana of an extended Earth Hour, well below normal temperatures, and a very low carbon footprint. But for some reason they aren’t happy about living in the dark ages.

Having gone 4 days in 100 degree heat with no AC after the dericho, I feel their pain. Here in DC, the dericho was far worse than either Irene or Sandy. No comparison. Very little warning as well.

I spent about 4-5 days without power in the middle of Winter a couple of years ago. I was one of the lucky ones who had a portable generator, and did not have to abandon my home. I keep over 60 gallons of gas on hand (nearly a week’s worth) and check the generator every couple of months.
