The horse probably crossed through the pass in the 1200’s or 1300’s when the weather was warmer than it is even today! The late 1300′ was when the glaciers started reforming
Back on the mid seventies, I traveled the Alps and often heard the concerned villagers speak of glaciers marching down the valleys. It was a big concern then. And it was one of my early climatology lessons.
