Coldest March In Tennessee Since 1960

March temperatures to date have been the coldest since 1960 in Tennessee, and have barely warmed since January 1.

    Another huge model fail for the Washington, DC area. At least this time the local forecasters did not drink the Kool Aid coming off the last bad bust. The prime model had DC snowing virtually all last night and this morning, with enough liquid content for several inches. The local forecasters kept signficant snow confirned to “far northern and western suburbs”. As it turned out there was some light, insignificant snow south of the DC and nothing at all north of DC.

    That just can not be!!! Day before yesterday got up to 74F and was probably the warmest in forever (2 or 3 months) 😉

      Of course the NW and other major weather groups were still predicting a high of 62 even after the temperature passed 70 that day.

    Of course some other city that considers mistakenly itself part of Tennessee, like Nashville or Memphis, could have experienced cold weather that day. 😉

    At 11:00 it is 60F and 57F is the predicted high for today.

      I guess it depends on which fortune teller you consult regarding the expected temperature for your location! NWS now says 62 and Accuweather now claims 64 Weather channel is still predicting 57 for the high. They do not even agree what the current temperature is! And they think they know what the temperatures will be in even 50years to within 1C! Flippin amazing!!!

    Yeah, thanks for reminding me Steve! … sheeesh … I have been freezing my rear-end off wondering where spring is. We had a couple of really nice days through the weekend, and I even got out on to the golf course. But our low temp tonight is supposed to be around 35F (brrrrr), and high temps going back down into the mid 40’s again. Where the hell is this so-called “global warming” ??? .. I have had enough of cold weather, the whole reason I moved away from Fargo, North Dakota, who are supposed to be sub-zero again for the next few days (with blizzards).

    I don’t know what part of Tennessee you are talking about. I live in East TN and we have had a very mild winter. The trees and flowers started blooming in February. Highs into the 50s and 60s, even up to 70, on a regular basis, and the coldest it’s been was maybe 24 degrees at night. It got down to 5 or 10 below in 1984, with wind chils in the minus 20 range. I live on a mountain. We had an ice storm that knocked out the power for 3 days, 14 years ago. We had two snowfalls of about one foot each, one of which stayed on the ground for a week, year before last. This winter has been nothing by comparison. I wish it HAD been colder, because we’re going to be overrun by bugs this summer.
