Most of the warming from 1992 to 1997 was due to recovery from the 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. Temperatures are about the same in 2013 as they were in 1991.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Good on you, Harry.
Off topic article on bringing the driest place in the world to life: ‘Fog catchers’ attempt to harvest moisture with huge nets in Chilean desert

The Earth has been cooling since than the Holocene Optimum, which lasted roughly from 9,000 to 5,000 BP. The uptick in warming (0.6 C) in the 20th century was merely a blip on the screen in terms of geologic time. We still don’t know how much, if any, of that slight increase in global mean temperature was caused by humans. Much of the temperature rise could simply be the result of poor siting of land-based thermometers.
As Dr. Alberto Miatello observes:
“When the temperatures of the various warm periods of the current interglacial, the Holocene, are examined using data unadjusted by the current data handlers, it is apparent that, from the Holocene Optimum, Minoan Warm Period (WP), Roman WP, Medieval WP, and Current WP, each successive peak temperature has been lower than the last. This suggests that the Earth is slowly sliding toward the next glaciation and renders meaningless the alarmist projections of constant warming for 100s or more years and even a permanent warm state.”
We may be approaching the end of the current interglacial, which has lasted approximately 11,500 years. Ice core data shows the past interglacial periods have lasted somewhere in the neighborhood of 11,500 years. It is a colder climate that should worry us. In the Northern Hemisphere, a change to colder temperatures would shorten the growing season and drive grain-producing belts southward, triggering widespread food shortages and famine.
It’s gorbal warming I tell you!!!

Hansen now says that flat global temperatures are caused by burning coal.

No he is a seriously deranged autocrat who is ensuring people die of the cold, he wants more people dead to prove his Malthusian theory correct.
He is that dangerous!
