As the climate warms, skiers can kiss their Aspen goodbye
Studies conducted by University of Colorado snow scientist Mark Williams and his colleagues predict that, if we continue to pollute the way we do now, skiing will be confined to the top quarter of Aspen Mountain in average years by the end of the century. Utah’s Park City Mountain Resort will have no snowpack whatsoever. The Great Melt will hit maritime ski resorts in the Cascades and Sierra even sooner. A study in New England found that only four of the region’s 14 major ski resorts will still be profitable by 2100 — if they even survive that long.

Aspen appears to have set a record with 36.35 inches of snow for April, barely eclipsing the old mark of 36 inches in 1970, according to Charlie Bailey, water treatment supervisor with the Aspen Water Department.

Aspen Snowfall Records were beaten this week as the best Powder Skiing in the history of Spring Skiing was enjoyed by the Jet-Set New York crowd who flies West each season for their own special blend of “March Madness”. Meanwhile, back in NYC, unwelcome snow was just causing a big mess for those not so fortunate, back on the grind for the 1st day of April…
Snow job scientist, I say!
The internet never forgets stupid scientific predictions.
LOve the title of this posting could be applied to all climate “scientists”
It’s amazing how they can say “studies show”, but never post a link to the studies.
“…Utah’s Park City Mountain Resort will have no snowpack whatsoever…”
Well, they currently have a 66 inch base, and average about 370 inches per year. Year-to-date, they’re at 188.
University of Crapalodo. Maybe if the faculty had more than a 3% conservative representation, they could produce something of value.
