Hansen says that bad heat waves used to be almost impossible because the dice weren’t loaded.
One hundred years ago, Death Valley had a week when afternoon temperatures averaged 130F. Would that qualify as a heat wave?
NOAA now considers a few weeks of 60F in March to be the most extreme heatwave in history.
Obama to let spy agencies scour Americans’ finances
(Reuters) – The Obama administration is drawing up plans to give all U.S. spy agencies full access to a massive database that contains financial data on American citizens and others who bank in the country, according to a Treasury Department document seen by Reuters.

This must be the “Greenland” to which the breathlessly refer as ‘melting down’. That or they are liars.
At the time that article was written in 1922, they were right: it took a full 10 years from that extreme July in 1913 before that 7-day record was shattered by the 160-day Marble Bar heatwave, 1923-24.

But it only felt like 130. Heat caused by CO2 feels much hotter.
Other weather that happened on February 13, 1989
Unseasonably warm weather continued in the southwestern U.S. The record high of 88° at Tucson, AZ was their seventh in a row. In southwest Texas, the temperature at Sanderson soared from 46° at 8am to 90° at 11am.
Also residents of the southern U.S. viewed an extremely rare display of the “Northern Lights”.
I wonder if Katherine Hayhoe would have thought that was “weird”.
Oops I got the date wrong,
not February 13, 1989
should be March 13, 1989

Loaded indeed, as in rip snortin drunk!
Every idiot knows there was more concrete and asphalt around in 1913, as well as more jet and air conditioning exhaust. Much more urbanization and population during 1913 as well. Especially in Death Valley. That is why leading climate scientists want to throw out the 1913 record. Also why they heat the present and cool the past.
