The vast majority of Germans supported Hitler, hence this is a very moot point.
Also in the UK, where gun laws were also strict everyone supported the Government too. Neither country needed more guns to stop the governments as they did not want to in the first place.
It’s a different age, trying to tie in modern day USA where modern day gun crime rate is tenuous at best.

That’s interesting Andy. And at some point the “vast majority” supporting Hitler morphed into “I was just following orders”. In between, what could concerned citizens do about it?

Andy, I dare you to put a “gun free zone” on your house
Yes, Hitler cracked down on gun laws, but he did not institute them. Germany had already been largely disarmed due to the Treaty of Versailles, and the Weimar Republic was not gun-friendly. The Nazis were just continuing the trend and extending its reach. Not even Britain was especially gun-friendly, despite the classic image of the sportsman tramping across the moors with a shotgun and brace of pheasant slung over his shoulder. A lot of people really don’t appreciate that the US is possibly unique on the face of the Earth in our Second Amendment rights.

Then Hitler stopped his tanks short of Dunkirk and later personally halted the QUOTE “Good Times” UNQUOTE the Luftwaffe enjoyed in the skies over Great Briton because Hitler saw England as too much like Germany and he didn’t want to spill more English blood than was necessary.
Burglars, rapists, and criminals in general, are all for gun bans. The company you keep speaks volumes.
