I watched part of The Roosevelts’ documentary by Ken Burns and they mentioned Arthurdale, which I had never heard of before. In several sentences they acknowledged that pre-fabricated houses didn’t fit on their foundations, but finished by quoting a WV coal miner’s wife who said “We woke up in hell and went to sleep in heaven.”
I knew I was only getting a tiny, slanted glimpse of the whole truth and found this discussion of the rest of the untold story.
