The climate fraudsters are all over the Internet today claiming that they are adjusting raw temperatures in a way which reduces warming. Let’s check that claim out.
The US has the only decent long term temperature record covering a large area of this planet. Temperatures here are being massively adjusted to increase warming, the exact opposite of what the fraudsters claim. Older temperatures are being adjusted down, and newer temperatures are being adjusted up.
The data tampering accounts for almost the entire claimed warming trend in the US.
Cue the “don’t look at that, look at this” aka the “we’re going to totally ignore that analysis” brigade.
Come on Mosher, show some grit and come have a conversation!
It’s more like the past is being cooled. Raising the present temperatures would result in an immediate outcry from people who record the temperature each day, and calculate monthly means, that sort of scientific work. So it’s mostly adjusting the past, rather than raising the recent data.
Yes, their claim that adjustments ‘reduce warming’, sounds exactly like, “We’ve always been at war with Eastasia”.
Or “All animals are equal but ….
I think the temperature chart shows raw data about a tenth of a degree warmer NOW. I’ll take that if they accept the rate of warming that goes with it. It is the “warming” trend that matters – not the minor difference in current temperature.
I wouldn’t accept a 0.1°(C or F) trend. Consider that the majority of the historical data is only accurate to +/- 0.5°C or worse, that trend would be in noise. Add in all the myriad siting problems for current stations and that tolerance goes up to -1.0°C/+4.0°C or wider, with most of the readings high due to UHI. That makes the noise band even wider.

You know what? Looking at Tony/Steve’s graph above of the same stuff which I assume is current. It looks like there have been “adjustments” made since NOAA put up that 1900-1999 (Final minus Raw) chart.

The adjustments are much larger now.
We know why they do it. The question becomes why would they claim the opposite? Low information (Read: Brian Williams) news viewers.

Oh good they’re adjusting those tempatured up a couple degrees. Frankly I’m glad because it’s getting kind of cold around here.
Well you can’t expect them to prove global warming aka climate change if they DON’T LIE!!
