2002 may have been slightly higher… depending on time period taken.

But look at that trend in September sea ice growth over the last 10 years.. wow !! 😉
Certainly a turn around.. as expected with the turning point in the AMO.

They are measuring 15% ice. The DMI graph measures 30% ice.
Yep, I know there are different methodologies… and data sets….
its the trend from 2006 that must REALLY get up the alarmista nostril . 🙂
Arctic sea ice levels have bottomed out and are starting to grow again.
Hudson Bay is ice free. Hurrah! The next ice age is postponed to next year.
“The next ice age is postponed .. blah blah….”
Let’s hope so. ! Another ice age would be disastrous for life on the planet.
There will most probably be a continued gradual increase in Arctic sea ice levels over the next couple of decades…
And all the warming scaremongers will change their story back to a cooling scare instead.
All caused by CO2, of course.
Gotta haul back the developed countries to the stone age … to achieve global equity. !!
I can’t wait to hear, “There was never any consensus on global warming, it was just a handful of scientists”.
After all, we’ve always been at war with Eastasia.
“And all the warming scaremongers will change their story back to a cooling scare instead.”
It will be interesting to watch. My guess is that they will say “We claimed “climate change” and that includes getting colder. Back then, some scientists said it might get warmer, others said it might get colder, but the consensus was that it was changing. We were, of course, right., but NOW we have enough evidence to see that the cooling change is inevitable… Oh, one more thing — we need MORE FUNDING TO STUDY THIS COOLING!”
Progressives reaction to Global Cooling

Two years ago my sister-in-law started asking me about CAGW. I did not want to be too confrontational, so when she expressed amazement that I did not believe in CAGW, I told her that yes, a lot of people claimed it was true, but that I would have to see some data — some actual measurements supporting it — before I would believe it. She kept repeating variations on “but all those scientists can’t be wrong!” and I just kept repeating that I needed to see data before I would believe it. In the end, she “won the argument” (not that it was really even an argument.) How? She began to cry, at which point I was accused of being “too harsh” and that I “argued so hard!”
Sigh…
Yes, just cut and paste, then attach to forehead of any hard core Democrat you know! Will save a lot of time not having to listen to that tired, old worn out rant.
John it was really nip and tuck!

It will be interesting to follow this.
Is that blue ice still in the NE corner of Hudson Bay? Maybe it will never go completely ice free. I wonder if there are still burgs floating around in the south central parts.
I would not be surprised if there were still burgs. Remember they said the Great Lakes were ‘Ice Free” when this mother was still floating around.

…the Coast Guard has been working hard since the beginning of December to break up the ice on the lakes, according to Read.
About a month longer than normal, the service finished ice breaking in the middle of May, Read stated.
June 18th, 2014 by Dr. Roy W. Spencer, “For those wondering about “Icezilla“, it appears from MODIS satellite imagery to have been beached by strong winds on the southeast shore of Michigan Island, in Michigan’s Apostle Islands in western Lake Superior.”
Of course, that is thoroughly consistent with AGW as far as I can tell.
The layman’s version goes like this. With CO2 contributing to a warming world, different parts of the globe will warm faster than others. In particular, the poles should warm faster than the lower latitudes. With a warmer arctic the temperature difference between the arctic and the rest of the northern latitudes lowers and this creates a change in the jet stream which makes it more prone to “wiggling”. So you would expect to see more pronounced troughs which is what happened this past winter. The jet stream dipped abnormally for large periods of times and this caused near record cold for much of the eastern portion of the US. Obviously, with a dipping jet stream driving the cold arctic air down toward the eastern US, the Hudson Bay is on the way there and it was not too unexpected that the Hudson would have fewer days that were ice free this year.
As a layman this makes perfect sense even though I can’t do the calculations myself. As skeptics, I’m curious how you all process this? The lead researcher was a lady from, I believe, Rutgers. Have you read her abstract and does that not intuitively make sense to you all?
PS Gail, I don’t know how long I will hang out here because obviously people prefer an echo chamber (this happens on the right and left so I’m not making a judgment call here) but if I stick around I want to make sure I use the proper pronoun to address you. Most Gail’s I know are female and I would assume you are but I would prefer to verify first instead of using the wrong pronoun.
I am female.
……………….
And the Arctic is not showing signs of being hotter when above the temperature of freezing – the blue line – and that is all that matters. If the Arctic is a bit warmer in winter it means the cold air was exported by way of the ‘Polar Express’ to the lower latitudes. That cold air mixes with warm moist tropical air and dumps large amounts of snow as it did the last couple of winters. That is why the Wisconsin Ice Age glaciers follow the shape of a loopy jet stream. Bitter cold is not going to give you the amount of snow you need for glacier building. It takes relatively warm MOIST winters (With clashing cold air) and cool summers to form glaciers and that is what we are seeing today with snowfalls five feet or more from a single storm in Buffalo NY, the islands of Greece, Italy, Scotland, Japan… where such snowfall is not common.

Besides the first place warming was supposed to show according to the physics was the lower troposphere of the tropics. It never did.
“that is thoroughly consistent with AGW as far as I can tell. ”
roflmao..
NATURAL VARIATION is consistent with the AGW farce as well.
Still haven’t figured that out, have you , bozo !!
Wow.. left turn, Clyde !!

Gore has been aptly rewarded for his anti-science, FALSIFIED predictions.
Maybe even enough to pay his heating and cooling bills on his mansions and also pay for his private jets.
