When James Hansen started the big global warming scam during the summer of 1988, he was 99% certain that the heatwave that summer was due to global warming.
His testimony before Congress came during the last really hot summer in the US. Peak temperatures had already declined substantially since the 1930’s, but they plummeted further since he announced that he was certain global warming was causing the heatwave.
On August 9, 1936 Du Quoin, Illinois was 113 degrees. But since Hansen testified, there have only been three years where they made it barely over 100. Peak temperatures in Du Quoin have dropped about one degree per decade since the 1930’s.
In the Washington D.C. area (outside of the Urban Heat Island) 100 degree days have been almost non-existent since 1988.
Setting the threshold to 90 degrees in rural Indiana shows the same thing.
Hansen, like all the rest of his climate buddies have absolutely no clue what they are talking about – so they mask it with baseless claims of certainty.
Not to mention that Hansen’s 1988 testimony was a fraud from day one.
Believe it or not, we called the Weather Bureau and found out what historically was the hottest day of the summer.
What we did it was went in the night before and opened all the windows, I will admit, right? So that the air conditioning wasn’t working inside the room and so when the, when the hearing occurred there was not only bliss, which is television cameras in double figures, but it was really hot. … So Hansen’s giving this testimony, you’ve got these television cameras back there heating up the room, and the air conditioning in the room didn’t appear to work. So it was sort of a perfect collection of events that happened that day, with the wonderful Jim Hansen, who was wiping his brow at the witness table and giving this remarkable testimony. …
