Nothing Happening In The Arctic

Red shows ice loss over the last two days. Green shows ice gain. Other than winds pushing the ice edge back a little in the Barents Sea, ice extent is not changing.

Over the past week, ice loss has been due to the Sea of Okhotsk melting out and southerly winds in the Eastern Arctic pushing the ice edge back.

There exists a societal stratus in the USA and also here in Europe of people living beyond reality , not accepting any facts other than their preprogrammed memes . Innocuous as they are , they were weaponised by malicious manipulators to install their oldfashioned ideas on our society and to a certain extent they were succesful in doing so .
It is always the same pattern ,if succesful ,leading always to dictatorship and loads of misery . Not telling the truth , lying , should be made a criminal offense , even at the highest levels of society .To put it diffently Tony thank you for showing the truth .

    • Griff says:

Yep. climate skeptic is an astonishingly successful meme in the English speaking world

      • AndyG55 says:

Basically zero funds, against a massively-funded, corrupt, totalitarian, AGW behemoth.

And still WINNING the battle of REAL science.

Try not to cry and bed-wet too much, little far-left, SJW petal.

      • Gator says:

Yep! Most human beings do not want to starve poor brown people to death. Crazy? Right, Ms Griff?

  2. R. Shearer says:

Nothing happening on Mauna Loa as far as CO2 measurements either. Gee, I wonder what could be the problem.

  3. gregole says:

Yes Tony, thanks again for all the work you put in all-year round; but especially the work you do during the Arctic melt season. I know a lot of people take this Arctic ice thing very, very seriously. I don’t. I don’t care about Arctic ice at all.

Now please understand, I’m not saying it’s not an important field of study; or that it should be ignored. It’s just not my field. My father was an avid amateur geologist and I’m sure it broke his heart that I had no interest in geology. A close family relative is a professor of geology and holds a PhD in geology. Me? Zero interest.

My interest is purely in the debate about Mann-made CO2 and how this tiny amount of CO2 is going to alter earth’s climate so drastically that all the Arctic ice will melt. I wait each year for all the ice to melt away quite suddenly.

I follow each of the expeditions that seem to launch just about every summer to “row to the pole”, or jet-ski to the pole, or hang-glide to the pole or whatever – all of course to point out the horrors of Mann-Made Global Warming in the Arctic. Which according to scientists, is screaming. The Arctic is screaming that is; google Mark Serreze. And every expedition is fraught with tales of the horrific reality of trekking about in that extreme, hostile and monotonously icy and freezing place.

The graphs. I love the graphs. All noise around zero as far as I’m concerned. The ice is up. The ice is down. The ice is recovering. Recovering. That’s one of my favorites. Noise around zero.

Truly, nothing is happening in the Arctic. But between people’s ears; there’s screaming; melting; vanishing; death-spirals; furnace like heat from CO2; even “blowtorches”. This, I find fascinating. The people and their weird CO2 fetish.

    • Griff says:

The ice, of course, is the most blatant and obvious evidence that the trace gas CO2 is warming the planet… which is why skeptics have to struggle to explain it away and why it is such an embarrassment to them…

      • AndyG55 says:

What total and utter RUBBISH !!

There is NOTHING unnatural or of human caused in the TOATLLY BENEFUICAL decline of sea ice from the EXTREMES of the anomalously cold LIA and late 1970s.

Did you know of the paper that shows that any CO2 effect at the poles is actually COOLING !!

Go and do some research, idiot, and stop your mindless anti-science prattling and attention-seeking TROLLING

        • Griff says:

you could of course post some links to the ‘research’ which proves your point… instead of over exercising the caps on your keyboard

          • AndyG55 says:

So you admit that you have never bothered keeping up with any science research.

Just regurgitate what is fed to you by the other Arctic morons. !!

You ignore any real science that is pointed out to you, just repeat the same old crap like a demented parrot.

          • sunsettommy says:

Several people here have posted a LOT of published science papers, but you have a cult belief to defend, thus ignore or idiotically rationalize them away.

Lets face it fella, you have NOTHING of lasting value to offer, which is why you get mocked every day.

      • Gator says:

The ice, of course, is the most blatant and obvious evidence that the trace gas CO2 is warming the planet…

Maybe, if we were not in an interglacial.

So in other words, there is zero evidence that CO2 is having any discernible effect on climate whatsoever.

Why do you hate poor brown Ms Griff?

        • Griff says:

We are probably at that point in an interglacial where normally you might see cooling setting in… we certainly have low solar activity, which again you’d expect to produce some cooling influence… and yet, the ice retreats, temps rises. A new driving factor, human CO2 is exerting a strong influence overriding/adding to other well known climate drivers

          • AndyG55 says:

We are already only just above the COLDEST period in 10,000 years, griff.

Present some empirical proof that CO2 has ANY warming effect whatsoever, anywhere, anytime.

Or are you just a brain-hosed, anti-science parrot regurgitating manic cult-like belief mantra.??

          • Gator says:

Still hating and killing poor brown people, eh Ms Griff? Even those who think man made CO2 is melting Arctic ice know that this is no excuse for genocide. This is not a hard lesson to learn if you do not hate poor brown people.

            What is your problem?

          • AndyG55 says:

“A new driving factor, human CO2 is exerting a strong influence overriding/adding to other well known climate drivers”

What a baseless load of unprovable ANTI-SCIENCE claptrap.

Bring empirical proof , or STFU with your demented parroting.!!

Still waiting for a sinle piece of empirical proof showing that enhanced atmospheric CO2 has any effect except enhanced plant growth

So far , you and you brain-hosed cult are batting a BIG FAT ZERO. !!

          • sunsettommy says:

You like most warmists ignore the overwhelming evidence that this warming trend is NATURAL and fails to meet the IPCC per Decade warming rate.

I post a lot in a forum that have warmists who ignore the hard evidence of the NULL hypothesis still being the operative status, since there is nothing unusual going on.

      • Latitude says:

“the trace gas CO2 is warming the planet”

Griff, at the most, it’s been 1 degree…
…do you honestly think the Arctic is so delicate that 1 degree is the only thing responsible for it

      • gregole says:

Will the Arctic be ice-free this year; and if not, when?

  4. Lasse says:

    Less ice will
    the globe?
    Have a guess and check:

    • Lasse says:

      For those who need help:
      Look at summertemperatures!
Steady as a whiskey with ice!

    • Griff says:

The reduction in albedo due to less ice cover will increase warming.

      • AndyG55 says:

        • Griff says:

I see: so the sea ice does not reflect sunlight into space?

          • AndyG55 says:

So does the ocean when the sun is low.

FFS learn some basic physics you ignorant clot !!

          • Rah says:

And so do the clouds which tend to form over the open water. And BTW the water also reflects a great deal. Especially when the sun is at a very oblique angle as it is even during the summer solstice.

          • Lasse says:

When and where does the sun give a temperature rise?
During summertime with 24 hours sun and a temperature fix as ice in a water bowl at 1-3 degrees. Every year with no exception.
Weather does not exist in the figures.
During low ice in September and into winter.
            When ice tends to grow?

          • Steve Keohane says:

You realize the obliquity is diminishing=less sun at both poles.

      • Lasse says:

        Where and when?

      • AndyG55 says:

“The reduction in albedo due to less ice cover will increase warming.”

Again with the abject ignorance. Your over-riding trait !!

Loss of the ice cover allows the Arctic to LOOSE more energy.

Sea Ice acts as an insulator.

  5. Griff says:

I predict this line of nonsense posting is about to go quiet and as usual resume only after another record low minimum with some nonsense about how the refreeze is faster than ever….

Just plug in ‘show all’ on this chart and see the extent is the second lowest in the 40 year record

This is not some event unique to 2018 caused by ‘winds’ (which have apparently been blowing since the start of the year across the Bering Sea to cause it to be ice free a month early).

Record low in Bering, amongst the lowest maximums, volume in bottom sets of the record thru the winter, record low in older sea ice – really this is about the worse start to the melt season in 40 years.

    It isn’t just ‘winds’….

    • AndyG55 says:

I predict that you will NEVER stop DENYING CLIMATE HISTORY !!

Arctic sea ice is STILL in the top 10% of Holocene extents

Above the MWP, Above the first 9000years of the last 10,000 years.

Only marginally down from the EXTREME HIGHS of the LIA and mid late 1970s.

      Stop DENYING the facts, griff.

      • Griff says:

Again I point out to you what happened in the early holocene is irrelevant. (Except it does show the arctic can be seasonally ice free).

what is important is what the trend is now, why and how that is important for us here in the anthropocene.

I hear nary a word from you on what is actually the trend in the ice and why in the present age – hoik yourself out of the past and give us an opinion on that.

        • AndyG55 says:

Stop MAKING UP moronic fairy-tale LIES, griff.

The trend is pretty much what you would expect from the state of the AMO.

And its been ZERO for the last 10 years.

And yes, the period before the ANOMALOUS COLD of the LIA is VERY RELEVANT, whether you like it or not.

The current slight decline is nothing but a RECOVERY from that COLDEST period in 10,000 years.

You come across as NOTHING but a moronically and wilfully IGNORANT chicken little trollette.

          • Griff says:

A recovery where the extent, volume/mass go down.

            I’m glad you aren’t an economist…

          • AndyG55 says:

Remain IGNROANT of climate history griff

Its the only thing holding your bed-wetting together.

Do you really DENY that the LIA was the COLDEST period in 10,000 years? and that mid/late 19670s extent was up with the EXTREME extent of the LIA

you really are a RABID CLIMATE DENIER.

          • AndyG55 says:

, no griff more like recobering from hypothermia.

Move to Siberia if you want LIA conditions

But I bet you will stay in your fossil fuel warmed inner city ghetto.

      • Gator says:

Andy, it has nothing to do with climate. Even the alarmists know that CO2 reductions will have next to no effect on climate. It is all about killing off the poor. I have presented the facts to Ms Griff regarding her participation in alarmist genocide, and she has doubled down in her efforts to rid the world of poor brown people.

Anyone who is not fully vested in their hatred of poor brown people, would long ago have admitted that this Arctic ice alarmism needs to stop immediately, once shown the facts.

        • Griff says:

I treasure your remarks. Every time I meet someone who thinks there might be something in this climate skeptic lark, I point them at your comments.

          • AndyG55 says:

And we point them at your comments when we want to show how incredibly DUMB and IGNORANT the generic AGW suckophant is.

          • Gator says:

BS Ms Griff. I have yet to meet anyone other than internet trolls that do not recoil st the thought of starving millions of innocent humans for a zero gain.

Sick trolls have tried to debate genocide with me, and all but one had to tuck their tails and run from the facts that they are genocidal ghouls. You are the sole troll who carries her head high through the piles of bodies you have created.

            You are a known liar.

    • Rah says:

I predict that Griff will remain as ignorant about earth sciences for the duration.
Epitaph on grave marker will read: Had a reoccurring dream of an ice free Arctic but never experienced the real thing.

  6. Brad says:

The brainwashed idiots on this site are on their propaganda run again. Were all gonna burn up and there is nothing we can do about it. Summer temperatures in scandinavia are due to us humans.

    • AndyG55 says:

Maybe they should look at 1976, ie the last time there was major wobbles in the jet stream.

      • Brad says:

They say thats due to GW, weakening gulf stream is also our fault. The question is: what isnt our fault? People are so brainless these days…

    • Sara Hall says:

Summer temperatures in Scandinavia were well below average (whatever that is) last year. I know this as I was there sailing from June to September. Six layers of clothing during an overnight passage in mid July spells seriously cold to me, especially as I’d been reliably told that daytime temperatures often reach 30C.

    • paul courtney says:

Brad, Scott is not gonna let you get away with that cherry-picking stuff. One site does not = global, did I get that right Scott? I’m sure you’ll get ’round to straightening Brad out. Real soon.

  7. Scott Koontz says:

Scientists tend to look at two days, usually early May, to monitor sea ice extent in the Arctic. IT’s what al the great scientists like Heller do.

What we should never do is look at the long-term trend of a 13% per decade loss of ice. That would be misleading.

    • paul courtney says:

Look, here’s Scott at 12:38. He’s just gonna rip a new one on Brad and his cherry-picking string of posts that are right above Scott’s post. How could you miss that, Scott? Were you so caught up calculating your next dig on Heller that you missed Brad? I realize it takes effort on your part to figure out how to twist Heller’s posts into your meme, but take a breath and tell us what’s wrong with Brad’s pretty pictures.

      • Brad says:

Actually if its so hot why is there any ice left in the arctic then? All of those idiots say were burning up and shattering previous heat records. Poland is super heat and shattered there heat record by 1 degree celcius and same for may so far. Were doomed!

        • Griff says:

It isn’t hot… just relatively hotter, compared to the long term average… it is warming… not ‘warmed’

It will continue to freeze over in the dark of the polar winter… but increasingly melt out during the summer.

          • AndyG55 says:

            And its freezing cold elsewhere.

Your IGNORANCE of the effect of the NATURAL loops in the Jetstream are quite HILARIOUS, griff. !!

You are EMPTY of all rational thought.

          • Gator says:

Another new Earther, as well as a hater of poor brown people. I guess if you are going to be batsh!t crazy, be like Ms a Griff and go for the gold.

    • Gator says:

      Long term? LOL

Little Scotty is a New Earther!

  8. Brad says:

Im sure we will see something soon on the super hot shores off the north sea and a red blazing baltic sea. Man those people must be melting there :-)
