1927 – The Worst Year In Red Cross History

Ninety-one years ago brought the worst floods in US history. The Mississippi River was flooded for more than six months, forcing hundreds of thousands of people to abandon their homes permanently. Vermont’s worst flood on record occurred in November, 1927. The Red Cross described 1927 as the worst year in history, with 111 disasters – including 29 tornadoes, 24 floods, 9 hurricanes and 23 fires.

And if all that wasn’t bad enough, children were happily sunbathing near the North Pole.

  1. Disillusioned says:

I’m sorry but that’s pure nonsense. Every government scientist and NPR-listening progressive knows that climate records and CO2-caused Global Warming™ began after 1979.

    • Gator says:

Exactly! Evil conservatives on the payroll of Big Oil have cleverly slipped fake old news clippings into the interweb strata to confuse the faithful. Every CAGW proselyte knows that the Gaian Calendar started 39 years ago, when climates were normalized by the Holy IPCC time machine.

      • Colorado Wellington says:

True, the post is complete nonsense and the 1927 flood picture is an obvious fake.

All progressive climate scientists know that it was not until 1979 when Jimmy Carter made the firmament that divided the waters under the firmament from the waters above the firmament.

  2. Johansen says:

It’s hard to imagine the structural damage caused by moving water like that in the Springfield, VT photo – even if that is a riverbed

  3. gregole says:

Can you imagine the hue and cry of the wamunists if weather like that happened now days?

    • gregole says:

We’re not headed for a flood ala 1927, but it’s pouring rain right now in Tempe, Az. So much for permanent drought.

I was going to clean out my pool filters this afternoon…but looking at the sky I thought “nuh-uh – looks like the heavens are going to open up tonight and dump whatever dust there is right into my pool.” It’s happening. Oh yeah, and lightning, and thunder. Monsoon.

      • Johansen says:

Well… I just washed 2 cars, so we’ll see what happens here in So. Calif.

        • gregole says:

It really came down here tonight. The worst is when it thunders and lightnings, and blows, but just a teeny tiny amount of actual rain. Your car is absolutely covered in dried out mud splats! You’ll see people drive their cars around for a week or so – all they have to do is hose down their cars – with those dirt splats all over them! Funny place Phoenix. I moved from So Cal in 1995, but still do occasional consulting work in Orange County. Pretty place with the beaches and all.

  4. Steelman says:

Alarmists, hate and fear documented facts from the past, when the world had safe levels of co2.
They try to say, that’s just one freak year. Fact is, one can pick out any decade, back as long as there are records, and these events pop up, decade after decade, year after year.
If I was to link to this in a debate, sure as hell, they say; this site’s just a blog, science say.and.do you really imply that there is a conspiracy with the temperature records?
I usually say, well, forget the blog, here are the links to actual news articles, investigate that!
    Then silence arrive.
