1936 Tornadoes : Third Worst Red Cross Disaster

“Anderson, South Carolina, has had 11.18 inches of rain during the past six days. Every known authority is struggling with the problem of caring for refugees, burying the dead and maintaining sanitation. The American Red Cross announced that the tornado had produced the third worse disaster on record in the United States, and that it would take ten years for the affected communities, which are not rich industrially, to recover from their economic losses.”
