Careful Research At BBC News

The BBC ran an article this week quoting Harrison Schmitt in 1972, showing a picture he took, and comparing it to a recent picture.  The point was to show how earth had changed due to global warming.  The pictures didn’t show any such such thing, and Harrison Schmitt is a high profile climate skeptic.

How 50 years of climate change has changed the face of the ‘Blue Marble’ from space

“the areal extent of sea-ice in the Northern Hemisphere has varied about a constant climatological level but in 1972-1975 sea-ice extent was significantly less. ”

The changes during the last 50 years were tremendous.

The upper half was changed by global cooling
and the lower by global warming and even the clouds took a completely different shape.

But there are also positive changes : Africa was about to fall from the edge ,
but something or someone (Obama?) pushed it back to the middle.

And maybe I’ll find out one day which photo is the one from 50 years ago.

And thanks god things like resolution, focus, distance, dynamic range, color quality and corretion have not improved during the last 50 years (movies also look the same as 50 years ago) and distance also does not matter,
therefore it is no problem to compare some ancient Hasselblatt snapshot with a modern satellite photo.

Btw – haven’t those 6 baboons that were recently shot into space(and sadly returned ) made some photos too?
Or wasn’t this a real space flight but more the Lear Jet+ Uber version of something Chuck Yeager already did 70 years ago?

Wow!! The Brits think that climate change has caused Africa to float to the NW, when really it is plate tectonics that did it!
