I guess it might be expected given these are global sea temperatures, but the highs (mean lines) are approximately on the solstices and the lows are near the equinoxes.
And the Arctic ice is approximately the same at those two points in time. I believe, from other posts, that it has varied cyclically between those two points, but in any case one could easily say that nothing has changed with regard to the sea ice with regard to both points in time. I would, however, consider there to be a change if the two points are on different points on the cyclical curve. Assume it to be roughly sinusoidal, then I mean are they both at pi/2+2n(pi) or something like that.
At this rate sea surface temperatures will reach absolute zero in about 13 month.
We are doomed.
