Within four days there will be new ice forming near the pole, causing ice area to start increasing. Ice extent may not bottom quite as fast.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

In this image it appears there is ice off the East Coast of Greenland just north of the Denmark Straight, is this right?
http://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/satellite/index.uk.php
There normally is. It gets transported by wind and currents out of the Arctic
Thanks, does it ever cause an ice build up in early winter?
When there is a lot of ice in the Greenland Sea, it means that a lot of ice is being lost from the Arctic Basin. Very little this year compared to “normal”
Huge holes in the Arctic – from 1960s recovered satellite imagery.

“New ice is forming within the pack close to the pole. (It is denoted by the “1” to the side of the egg code box)..”

I guess that 2014 minimum value for Ice AREA will not be before 2014-09-09.
Steve, do you remeber you 2012 bet?!?
Steve,
thanks for taking the time to answer, I’m no expert on Arctic Sea Ice as you’ve probably guessed.
