I have been negligent with moderating comments recently, and found this comment from Eric Steig.
Climate scientists constantly complain to me that they are misquoted by the press. I would suggest that they make every effort to stop that from happening.
Maybe if they started telling the truth they wouldn’t have that problem.
Warmist’s lies will have to stop soon, or the size of their Nose will add to their problems.

Steve, you quoted what he said and included the title of the article. When I read your post, there was no way I thought that Eric said the 1 in 27 million stat. The only allusion to that claim is the title of your post. Reading the original article, it was clear that the quote came from the ‘climate research and journalism group’ Climate Central. The case you laid out clearly showed that he was wrong to suggest that ‘global warming continues apace.’ Instead of discussing the data, he simply whined about an apparent miss attribution of a quote.
If I am looking for a quote in an article I look for quotation marks.
It really is science just like plus and minus signs.
If there are no quotation marks it is not a quote.
Why does Steig’s avatar look like a swastika?

He just says that he didn’t say it, not that he thinks it’s wrong, misleading or even mildly inaccurate.
Eric must not have any issue with the figure, as he does not appear to have attempted to correct the article that is still quoting it to this day.
Whoa…….I was looking at the time stamp on the comment and it’s a month and a half after the previous last comment. When you drop comments so late in the game you aren’t looking for a conversation. But if Eric Steig wants a conversation he can start commenting now on this post.
It would be nice to have a respectable conversation with someone rather than continue to beat up on Chris and his nonsense.

The article that started this reads like bad sci-fi, and begins with anonymous “scientists” who either lied, or were misquoted.

The article, or the scientists, failed to go on and say that they were only partially “confident” of this “hottest year ever”, and on top of that, it wasn’t.

So if the temperature was accurately identified in 1997 as 62.45F in 1997 AND the temperature was accurately identified in 2014 as 58.24F in 2014, THEN the temperature has dropped over 4.2F and we are half way to an Ice Age!!!!! OH MY GOSH!

Clearly someone at climate central is claiming this. Maybe they need to more carefully attribute who writes what article there, or perhaps this is just a way of being able to hide behind some partial anonymity.
But of course, without temperature fiddling, thirteen of the 15 hottest years did NOT happen in the last 15 years.
Well, if Eric Steig does decide to comment here, perhaps he can discuss this plot:

I fully agree with Eric Steig, your post seems to be misleading and seems to indicate that Eric said something he did not say. It is also likely that Eric did not even know the title of the article when he made his comment to Mashable.
There are more than enough real quotes out there which can be falsified or demonstrated to contain logical fallacies. There is not need to make any false attributions.
No doubt someone was misquoted here as well:
