How does he get so much done, and golf too! Truly a gifted man, deserving of a 10 day vacation at Martha’s Vineyard. Yes he can!

  2. Wayne Ward (truthsword) says:

And caused “a thing of the past” snow to return!

  3. Tony Duncan says:

    Steve,

yeah. too bad he didn’t follow Bush’s policies. Policies that resulted in almost no US combat injuries or deaths, and the huge savings from the lack of extra credit military expenses, and the good will of the people in the middle east. All of that gone now. And THEN Obama starts a war that has led to……how many US combat casualties, and how much money compared to Iraq?

    • suyts says:

Tony, I think the Bush withdraw timetable has expired. IOW, Bush would have had the troops out by now. Any casualty from either Iraq and Afghanistan is on B.O. —– I think he really is the Commander-in-Chief, and has been for a while now.

      • Tony Duncan says:

        SUYTS,

and he must be keeping the troops there in spite of the huge outcry from the military brass demanding we bring our boys home. Bush certainly would have never crossed the military the way Obama has.

      • suyts says:

Tony, I haven’t a clue as to why he hasn’t brought them home. The timetable for withdrawal has come and gone. The mission in Afghanistan was to get OBL…. what are we still doing there?

      Tony,

I hope your entire family dies as a result of the good intentions of the people in the middle east.

        Stark,

yeah Americans would NEVER brag and get all excited about the killing of innocent civilians.

      • suyts says:

Tony, are you really posting the edit video from wikirapists? Innocent? Are you kidding me?

      • Tony Duncan says:

        SUYTS,

Yeah, that guy with the camera COULD have thrown it through the rotors killing those poor soldiers. If only that wounded guy had “gone for a weapon” so that gunner could have defended them all some more. And the GALL of those terrorists thinking about trying to help some of the wounded. then those namby pamby’s stopped shooting and now those two kid terrorists are going to grow up.

      • suyts says:

Tony, you do understand that in war, a weapon near an enemy combatant is a very bad thing. It is life threatening, not only to one’s self, but to one’s comrades in arms. ‘Copters used in this manner is for support of troops on the ground every one of them boys have a momma. And, while many would disagree with me, there isn’t one American life that doesn’t exceed the value of that entire nation. (The medic in me.) You don’t want them to have the ability to get into a fire fight with your buddies. BTW, as bad as it sounds at times, we need people of that nature.

I’ll look for the video that actually shows everything………

      • suyts says:

Here Tony, put that piece of….. propaganda away and see the unedited version…..
        [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4SjtxR_SGo&w=640&h=390]

      • Tony Duncan says:

        SUYTS,

that certianly is a different take. i am not convinced that the people killed were insurgents and that the info provided on that video is accurate. Even in the originally released excerpt I always wondered why insurgents would just walk around casually when there was a helicopter flying over head. Form the movement of the camera it was clearly not very far away from them.
But I certainly concede that it is very possible that there was much more rationale for the attack than what was publicized.

      • Sundance says:

Tony you got info from an anti-USA propagand mill and couldn’t wait to share it here. Nice work Tony, that was great, I sure learned alot about you from this.

      • Tony Duncan says:

        Sundance,

and silly me I acknowledge that SUYTS video changes the equation quite a bit.

      • suyts says:

It is strange how we assume knowledge for other people. I truly thought you would have seen both takes, as I recall the hubub. But it is very likely that our sources for information doesn’t come from the same places.

The wikileaks video is a great reminder to the old adage to not believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.

Within the view of the chopper it is very likely many other groups of people. They just wanted not to be noticed, but they were. Hiding in plain sight….as it were.

Another great quote from a historical war figure……. “The essence of war is violence. Moderation in war is imbecility.” – John Arbuthnot (Jackie) Fisher.

Tony, I really believe it’s best for us not to have such detailed information. It would be impossible for people without sufficient knowledge or experience to properly context the information. Even if the information was unfiltered and accurate.

  4. Andy WeissDC says:

The Republicans are still bashing Jimmy Carter, so W is fair game as well. Except maybe for Reagan, who was the last President you could feel genuinely proud of? Eisenhower? Maybe Gerald Ford, but he was only in for a couple of years.

    • Latitude says:

Andy that’s an easy one…….Reagan was not an apologist

………..the rest of them have been spineless, whipped out, mamma’s boys

    • DEEBEE says:

Incorrect. Repubs do not blame the present ills on Carter. They compare current politicians to Carter, as if Carterwas a profanity. Dems blame current ills on Bush as if he is still incharge; see Tony Dunce-y-man above.

  5. Tony Duncan says:

Yeah, that Reagan. Showed them what America was about when they bombed our boys in Beirut! And the way he stood up to Saddam. I think Reagan actually made him promise not to use gas on his own people, or at LEAST not to use the components the US supplied. At least Reagan admitted that was a mistak….. well, he would of admitted it if it hadn’t been so embarrassing!

    • Latitude says:

Tony, nothing tops Clinton bombing the Chinese Embassy……………..

    • suyts says:

Tony, I really don’t think Reagan cared what Saddam did. I know he shut Kadafi up for quite some time. And, he halt Cuban/Soviet expansion into the Caribbean. As to Beirut….. who would you go after and what would you accomplish if you were to win there? I believe Reagan was applying the Clausewitz principle in this case………“No one starts a war–or rather, no one in his sense ought to do so–without first being clear in his mind what he intends to achieve by the war and how he intends to conduct it.” — Carl Von Clausewitz

Even today, with the benefit of hindsight, is there a path you see where we could have had any measure of success? Reagan apply strength where and when it benefited this nation.

      • Tony Duncan says:

        SUYTS,

SOMEBODY should have forced Rumsfled,Cheney, Bush Wolfowitz, and the other neocons that obscure Clothswitz book.

      • suyts says:

It is true that there is much to learn about the conduct of war from our Prussian friends from days gone by.

That said, Iraq notwithstanding, those guys were pretty clear when we when to Afghanistan. What are we still doing there? Iraq was a mistake? Reasonable people can disagree, but that doesn’t alter the here and now. I’m wondering how useful it is to bring up Rummy and Cheney? Its not like they’re going back into public service again.

Its ok to address history, in order to learn from it, but these sentiments, seem a bit of ‘cursing the darkness as opposed to lighting a candle’. And, looking at and comparing the two most recent administrations, the Bush admin is starting to look more and more like a bunch of peaceniks in comparison to the current admin.

NASA says global warming will cause space invaders ti wipe out mankind. So in addition to making MUslims feel like they are scientific and having a HAND in man MADE global warming NASA has now plagerized a Hollywood script as a global warming scenario. I checked the calendar and it is not April 1st.

Obama has redirected NASA again, from making Muslims feel good about their science contributions to worrying about aliens destroying earth because of greenhouse gases:

    • Tony Duncan says:

      dmmcmah,

this time of thing always makes my head spin. I remember Hawkings throwing his hat in about malevolent aliens. No one has a clue about anything about any aspect of aliens, so all this speculation is totally commensurate to counting angels on the head of a pin.
this type of speculation is what made me decide Sagan was a nut.

  9. AndyW says:

I’m not sure only Clinton and Obama should be questioned on the middle east. The Republicans supported Iraq against Iran for all those years even though it was Iraq to blame. Because of 1979 and the hostages Iran was seen to be the villains even though Iraq was more than to blame for the iran-Iraq war.

Bush Snr did well in Kuwait but then got dumped by the US public, to make amends for this slip up
they got his less able son in who forced regime change in Iraq on dubious grounds that ironically allowed Iran to become a bigger player in the region.

Even today the invasion of Iraq causes problems because it is limiting what can be done in Libya and the other countries that are undergoing the Arab revolution.

Another bad point is that it screwed up Colin Powell, a good man who may have made a better first black president.

    Andy

    • Paul H says:

You can’t really blame the yanks for falling out with Iran after they had taken their embassy staff hostage!

      • AndyW says:

Times change, that’s why the Yanks are ok with the Brits after our little war all those years ago.

        Andy

      • suyts says:

Andy, times do change, but our memories are a bit longer than a few years. Picking a lesser of two evils occurs from time to time. Iraq, regardless of what they did or didn’t do, will always be deemed as the lessor of two evils in relation to Iran, for about as long as my generation of Americans live.

And, as long as we’re depicting the Bush’s, the reason why it was palatable for many Americans to go back to Iraq, was because most of us felt Bush Sr. left the job undone. He should have went on to Baghdad and been done with it. I just quoted one of Britain’s war heroes of old, I think it is apt here, too. “The essence of war is violence. Moderation in war is imbecility.” – John Arbuthnot (Jackie) Fisher.

Bush Sr. moderated the violence against Iraq. He should not have done so. If Bush Jr. hadn’t gone to Iraq, they would still be American antagonists today. Now, its only some(and significantly less of them) of the Iraqi people who are American antagonists. As far as the supposed Arab spring or whatever…… what is it to us? People deserve the governments they have. So, some people are bringing about change for their government. I propose we (we being NATO or other allies) leave it to them to sort it out for themselves. My only interest in Libya would be to see Kadafi gone,(I’ve no interest in anyone choosing a leader for the Libyans) and a certain ex-resident of Britain moved to a location where they know how to properly treat mass murderers. (That would exclude the place of his prior residence.)
