Protecting yourself is different from depending upon the government to care for your every need.
Agreed. But I limit access to my home, and mobility in my auto when I “protect myself”. This is the very definition of trading freedom for security. The difference is that you have not given up any God given rights by taking these precautions.

I was in Guadalajara MX in September, and was traveling through the “affluent suburbs”. Every home there had concertina wire and or an electric fence to protect the home day and night. I have multiple pictures showing this semi-passive security, and they are unreal. This is what happens when you can’t protect your own home.
