Is The Earth Warmer Than 80 Years Ago?

If you are a good, well behaved skeptic you will say, yes I accept that the climate has warmed since the 1930’s.

On the other hand, I would say that global warming is complete, utter bullshit. We know that the climate warmed during the 1980s. We know that the climate warmed from 1910 to 1940.  We also know that the people behind this scam are total scum.

  1. The more relevant question is, has it warmed outside the bounds of natural variability? (Which the IPCC now admits they don’t understand very well after all, or maybe all the missing heat went to the bottom of the ocean.)

The temperature goes up a bit, it goes down a bit. Making a crisis out of it, is another matter.

The satellites don’t show global warming during the 1980’s

  3. Tree rings show warming in the 70s 80s 90s 00s 10s but the alarmists are too stupid to use them. Shhhh don’t tell them.

Trees grow faster with more CO2. All the trees are growing like crazy now. If the alarmists had brains and kept using the same proxies and didn’t get greedy and graft on Amama Radar-Range data in 1980, they’d have a rise that was statistically accurate. False, wrong, corrupt, but accurate.

I love how green all the trees are now. I’m old enough to remember…..the forest was never this green before. We owe it all the to greatest molecule on the planet…CO2

If I recall correctly, it was 1934 and again in 1936 when during one month of summer the entire lower 48 experienced temperatures above 100 degrees. There has been nothing like it since. And it isn’t confined to the USA.

    US

I don’t know whether we have enough reliable data to say whether the globe is warmer now than in the 1930s. On the other hand it sure likes the US is NOT warmer than in the 1930s. If the US were warmer today, we would expect to see the all time high temperature records of the various states biased toward the present instead of toward the 1930s.

I’d say that “global warming” as a concept is utter bs. An average temperature is entirely meaningless. Averaging the temps don’t tell us if the world is getting hotter or colder. It doesn’t work that way. It takes less energy to raise the temps in the Arctic 10 degrees than it it does at the equator. It doesn’t tell us jack squat about anything. Then throw in the anomaly bs and you’ve even got more of a mess than the mess you started with.

Then to have people believe they could adequately average anything in the early 1900s is even more silliness. They don’t have any idea what that meaningless average was back then. Back to the energy thought, what was the temps in the Sahara in the 30s? Oh, no one really knows. Arctic? Antarctic? Oceans? Most of Africa, much of S. America? Jungles of SE Asia? If one of those hot places cooled by a degree, it would more than offset the increases at the poles which we don’t know really occurred. It’s all imaginary.

And then, of course, as Steve says, the scumbags who invented this stupidity are constantly changing their numbers because they don’t conform to their world view. They’re known liars. There is absolutely no reason to beleive the world is warmer today than it was in the 1930s. It’s warmer than it was in the 1600s. …… maybe.

It could be that the reason for lack of exploration into the deserts and jungles was because it was just too damned hot and then the heat dispersed from the equatorial regions to north and south ending the LIA.

  7. Never mind 80 years ago. Is the world warmer than 1000 years ago?

Look at 3300 years ago. Who made all the CO2 then?

  8. Morgan in Sweden says:

Official figures (SMHI) here is Sweden shows that the 10 year average temperature in Sweden was exactly the same in 2012 as in 1935.

  9. Sparks says:

The Earth is still in an interglacial, so the entire planet is warmer than an ice-age or the occasional blips of cool periods we call ‘little ice-ages’. So the answer to Steven’s question is in fact NO, because the planet is in a natural warm period since the end of the last ice-age anyway. During an interglacial period it is normal to have decades of warmer or cooler than average temperatures over specific geological areas some areas warm and some areas cool, this is normal variability, is it even possible to measure a uniformed temperature of the entire planet? because there are a lot of issues on various scales and the technology is in it’s infancy, The estimated temperature of earth from various sources including nasa is about 15-16 C so obviously this must be the norm for the entire interglacial period earth is currently in.

Steven, I agree with your post, however in your last sentence you missed out a good old Saxon word between the total and scum.
