Officially, 2009-10 was the coldest winter (Dec, Jan & Feb) in Scotland since 1963. December and January were the coldest since 1914 , but we had a milder temperatures after Feb 10th, which brought the monthly average up. In 1963 (and 1947) the severe winter conditions continued into March-April. This year has started early but there’s a long way to go yet. It could be like 1981-82 which was very cold in December but turned milder in mid January.
