VATICAN CITY – Papal heavies shut down an awkward question at a Vatican press conference today when a journalist asked UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon his views on climate sceptics.

Marc Morano, covering the Vatican climate conference for Climate Depot, asked Ban Ki-Moon whether he had a message for the Heartland Institute delegation of scientists who have flown to Rome to urge the Pope to reconsider his ill-advised position climate change.

But before he could finish the conference hosts interrupted to ask which organisation he worked for, then directed the microphone to a more tame questioner, while a security guard came over to mutter in Morano’s ear “You have to control yourself or you will be escorted out of here.”

According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia,within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”.

“Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he said.

(Reuters) – The multiyear ice covering the Arctic Ocean has effectively vanished, a startling development that will make it easier to open up polar shipping routes, an Arctic expert said on Thursday.

Vast sheets of impenetrable multiyear ice, which can reach up to 80 meters (260 feet) thick, have for centuries blocked the path of ships seeking a quick short cut through the fabled Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific. They also ruled out the idea of sailing across the top of the world.

But David Barber, Canada’s Research Chair in Arctic System Science at the University of Manitoba, said the ice was melting at an extraordinarily fast rate.

“We are almost out of multiyear sea ice in the northern hemisphere,” he said in a presentation in Parliament.

Climate scientists constantly complain to me that they are misquoted by the press. I would suggest that they make every effort to stop that from happening.

President Obama burned a few hundred thousand gallons of jet fuel last week, to warn Floridians they would be hit by more hurricanes, unless they had faith in his $29 billion/year junk science based religion.

The data shows the exact opposite of what the great prophet Obama claims. As CO2 has increased, the frequency of Florida hurricanes has dropped 60% since the 1870’s. They are currently experiencing their longest period on record without a hurricane strike.

Similarly, the frequency of US hurricane strikes has plummeted.

Major (category 3-5)  hurricane  strikes have also declined, and the US is experiencing the longest period on record without a major hurricane strike.

By supporting Obama’s mindless fact-free religion, climate scientists and newspapers disgrace both science and journalism.

I was next door to this restaurant two weeks ago for the American Physical Society meeting at the Hilton Hotel. Later that week I was likely shot at riding my bike to the gym in Columbia, and two days later was harassed by gang members riding home from Whole Foods. Columbia never used to be like that. People used to get along extremely well.

This has little or nothing to do with anger at the police. It is organized race baiting and civil disorder coming from the White House and DOJ – which has been going on for six years. The intent is to create chaos and break down civil society.

A few years ago, prominent skeptics signed up for a temperature data project called “Berkeley Earth” – which was headed up by a Berkeley professor (Richard Muller) who told them he was a skeptic and wanted to prove the NASA temperature record was bogus. They didn’t bother to check his past writing, and didn’t listen to the advice of other skeptics on the matter.

Muller was never a skeptic, and his intent was the exact opposite of what he claimed.

Let me be clear. My own reading of the literature and study of paleoclimate suggests strongly that carbon dioxide from burning of fossil fuels will prove to be the greatest pollutant of human history. It is likely to have severe and detrimental effects on global climate. I would love to believe that the results of Mann et al. are correct, and that the last few years have been the warmest in a millennium.

Richard Muller, Climate Researcher, Navigates The Volatile Line Between Science And Skepticism

Not surprisingly, the project was a disaster for skeptics, and became a big coup for alarmists.

Now we have a new project to test the validity of global temperature adjustments. My expectation is the project will focus on a few stations sitting near an air conditioner and a few stations which have been manipulated to show warming – then Gavin will pull out  few that show the opposite, and the project will backfire and prove nothing.

I have accumulated massive amounts of evidence that the data set taken as a whole is bogus, based on many different lines of analysis. I have established lines of thinking showing that the NASA global and US temperature graphs can’t possibly be correct. I have established lines of argument which Gavin and Tom won’t be able to counter. Focusing on individual stations is a recipe for disaster.

Skeptics need to decide if they want to get serious about ending this data fraud, or if they just want to play in the alarmist sandbox again, pretend they are doing something useful for a few weeks, keep their alarmist buddies happy, and then have a great opportunity go up in smoke again.

In order to end this scam, skeptics need to be clever – for a change.
