FOR MORE THAN HALF A CENTURY the eminent physicist Freeman Dyson has quietly resided in Prince­ton, N.J., on the wooded former farmland that is home to his employer, the Institute for Advanced Study, this country’s most rarefied community of scholars. Lately, however, since coming “out of the closet as far as global warming is concerned,” as Dyson sometimes puts it, there has been noise all around him. Chat rooms, Web threads, editors’ letter boxes and Dyson’s own e-mail queue resonate with a thermal current of invective in which Dyson has discovered himself variously described as “a pompous twit,” “a blowhard,” “a cesspool of misinformation,”

There is the suspicion that, at age 85, a great scientist of the 20th century is no longer just far out, he is far gone — out of his beautiful mind.  But in the considered opinion of the neurologist Oliver Sacks, Dyson’s friend and fellow English expatriate, this is far from the case. “His mind is still so open and flexible,” Sacks says. Which makes Dyson something far more formidable than just the latest peevish right-wing climate-change denier. Dyson is a scientist whose intelligence is revered by other scientists — William Press, former deputy director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory and now a professor of computer science at the University of Texas, calls him “infinitely smart.”

I know the skeptics under attack – Marc Morano, Joe Bast, Roy Spencer, Willie Soon, etc.

These are really good people trying to do the right thing. They are under attack by the very scum of the earth, exactly because they do the right thing.

History has repeated this story over and over again. Easily manipulated useful idiots always fall in line behind the scumbags, because scumbags are willing to lie over and over again, and useful idiots are too foolish to know the difference.

Let me be clear. My own reading of the literature and study of paleoclimate suggests strongly that carbon dioxide from burning of fossil fuels will prove to be the greatest pollutant of human history. It is likely to have severe and detrimental effects on global climate. I would love to believe that the results of Mann et al. are correct, and that the last few years have been the warmest in a millennium.

It is hilarious seeing Naomi Oreskes lie about big skeptic money. It doesn’t exist. Essentially all of the money is on the alarmist side.

Two years ago Google broke their news archive searches, because it was digging up too many inconvenient facts. Google has now decided to let anti-science criminal hacks like like Poltifact decide what is truth in science. They are not doing the right thing. They are behaving like Nazis. They have gotten away from their charter.

Skeptics reach millions of people and can take away hundreds of millions of dollars of Google business through a boycott.

Forty-five years ago, we had dirty air and water in the US. LA looked like Beijing

I worked hard to get the Clean Air Act passed, and to establish and protect wilderness areas. I worked two summers as a volunteer ranger in the Cibola and Santa Fe National Forests. This was my home one summer at 12,000 feet elevation.

The US was very successful at cleaning up the environment. But then the environmental movement was hijacked by big money pushing the global warming scam. What would happen if fossil fuels were banned?

Every tree in the forest would be cut down for firewood. The air would be thick with smoke from burning wood. Every animal in the forest would be hunted to extinction for food. Whales would be hunted to extinction for oil. It would be an environmental apocalypse.

Low cost fossil fuels keep us clean, green, healthy and prosperous. Our clean environment is the result of our responsible use of fossil fuels. A clean environment is a luxury brought by wealth, which poor, low-CO2 emitting countries don’t enjoy.

Communist countries are filthy.

TESTIFYING BEFORE the House Energy and Commerce Committee last week, Energy Secretary Steven Chu was asked about something he said in September. “Somehow,” the Nobel laureate had told The Wall Street Journal, “we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” At the time, gasoline in Europe was going for around $8 a gallon.
