The Providence Journal’s Commentary pages have long been a forum for informed opinions, so I remain disappointed to see it publish polluter propaganda such as the Oct. 21 Commentary piece by Tom Harris and Bob Carter (“Whitehouse misguided on sea-level rise”). At a minimum, fair disclosure would seem to require letting readers know that these authors are associated with the infamous Heartland Institute, a polluter-funded front group most notorious for billboard advertising linking climate scientists to the Unabomber (for instance, Carter is a “senior fellow” on the Heartland Institute website).

There could have been a disclaimer on their article: “WARNING: This product contains undisclosed conflicts of interest, and consuming it could be hazardous to your comprehension.” A bit of due diligence with scientists at Rhode Island universities might also have been in order before offering them The Journal’s podium.

Alarmists are in huge trouble in the Arctic.

Cold water in the North Atlantic is causing a large increase in ice in the Barents and Greenland Seas, and cold water in the Bering Sea will later cause a large increase in the other direction too.

I suspect that even the “breathtakingly ignorant”  Mark Serreze knows where this is headed.

Greenland is having their second highest ratio of record minimums to record maximums this year. The only year which beat it was 1992, which was cooled by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo

Temperatures in the capital of Greenland are plummeting, and are coldest in 20 years.

For the whole country, temperatures peaked before 1940, and have never been matched again.
