After first mission failed in 2009
NASA will launch the Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 (OCO-2) on Tuesday to further scientific understanding of carbon dioxide emissions, the agency’s first mission to study greenhouse gases.
The $468 million mission will allow scientists to record detailed carbon dioxide measurements, contributing crucial information to the incomplete understanding of “where all of the carbon dioxide comes from and where it is being stored when it leaves the air,” according to a statement.
President Obama has already determined that evil CO2 comes from US coal burning power plants, but NASA still needs another $500 million satellite to confirm this settled science.

The guy with the dunce cap believes that since the Antarctic winter started, with temperatures at -50C, enough ice melted in the interior of Antarctica to create 14 million km^2 of new sea ice extending 1,000 miles from the coast.
It has taken many years of work from the team to create people this stupid.
Update : Chris Crawford responds, explaining that the massive growth of ice this winter at -50C is due to very rapid melting.
I’m stuck in the office all day, and the Mexican web site I was watching the group stages on, is not showing any more matches to non-subscribers. Does anyone know of any other sites where I can watch?
Ric Werme is one of the people on WUWT who frequently doesn’t bother to read what I actually wrote, and then goes on a rampage complaining that I am wrong. Then it becomes urban legend, and their poor reading comprehension becomes an excuse for alarmists to ignore my important work.
Ric did it again this morning here.
Several people on both sides of the debate continue to criticize my averaging of the entire measured USHCN data set.
The graph below shows the average of three different USHCN groups of data since 1990, which was the year they started exponentially losing data.
The raw data is green. It shows a small warming since 1990, all of which occurred before 1998. The final adjusted data is blue, and shows much stronger warming. The fabricated data (temperatures marked with an “E”) shows a very strong warming, and is the component of the final data which creates almost all of the difference between final and raw.
According to the USHCN V1 documentation, there is no additional adjusting needed after 1990, and according to the USHCN V2 documents they use the same TOBS algorithm as V1. So other than infilling, final should match raw after 1990.
I don’t see how this could be any clearer. Infilling of fabricated temperatures is causing the vast majority of reported warming since 1990. The reason I see this and others don’t – is because I use the actual data reported by USHCN exactly as it is reported.
Note how the divergence coincides with the beginning of wide scale station data loss.

Fortunately, Tim Howard, Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey are too.
Poll: 53 Percent Of Americans Don’t Believe In Man-Made Global Warming
President Obama is emphasizing global warming ahead of the November elections, but a new poll suggests he faces an uphill climb.
According to a Pew Research Center poll, 35 percent of Americans say there is not enough solid evidence to suggest mankind is warming the earth while another 18 percent says the world has warmed due to “natural patterns” and not human activity.
