NOAA says that many years were colder in the upper midwest, because they tamper with data and have completely lost touch with reality.

Prior to the passage of the Clean Air Act, the US had some serious air pollution problems. This is what LA looked like in 1948.

There were many days when you could hardly see across the Grand Canyon, because of smoke from coal fired power plants. Government solved those problems through regulations passed in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Unfortunately, those same government agencies have outlived their usefulness, and are now regulating imaginary pollution. The EPA is obsessed with CO2, which is not a pollutant.

The EPA needs to be defunded, because they are now hurting America rather than helping. Much of the Federal government has become a malignacy, which exists only for its own benefit.

With several cold months left to go in 2014, Michigan has already recorded the second largest number of below 0F readings in a single year. Only 1963 had more.

Over the past century, global sea level has risen by about 8 inches. Since 1992, the rate of global sea level rise measured by satellites has been roughly twice the rate observed over the last century.

Satellite measurements of sea level began in 1992, so the claimed comparison is impossible. There isn’t any satellite sea level data from before 1992.

If you do an apples to apples comparison of tide gauges from before/after 1992, there is no acceleration. Obama’s claim of acceleration is based entirely on switching between two uncalibrated measurement systems, a mistake which would get him fired from any engineering job.

The 1990 IPCC report said that there was no acceleration during the 20th century.

Does anyone seriously believe that sea level rise suddenly doubled in 1992?

Most of my childhood was spent in Los Alamos, New Mexico, surrounded by public lands. I went hiking in the national forest every day. You could go target shooting just about anywhere in the Santa Fe National Forest. It was fantastic there, and still is.

Now I live on the Front Range of Colorado, where public lands are much less accessible. People build houses in the mountains (many of which burn down or flood every summer) and they block access to the forest.

I never understood why people want to live in the mountains, anyway. As far as I am concerned, lots of public land is a good thing – and building houses in the Front Range foothills benefits nobody.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Red Dawn, a Patrick Swayze movie where communists invade Colorado and use the gun registry to try to round up the guns and resistance. Similar to what Bloomberg tried to do last year in Colorado.

You might ask why the guy on the right is pointing his AK-47 at his buddy with his finger in the trigger guard? I certainly wonder that.

The movie was actually filmed in New Mexico, just east of where I used to work as a ranger in the Pecos Wilderness. The scene above was filmed at Ghost Ranch, about 50 miles away – near Georgia O’Keefe’s house.

All of her paintings looked like she had the same general idea on her mind. New Mexico can be a weird place.

Two things stand out about the current USHCN data tampering graph. The most obvious is the huge amount of tampering going on in 2014, but almost as bizarre is the exponential increase in tampering since about the year 1998.

There is no rational reason for either of these – so here is my guess. Obama wants credit for healing the climate. He has been engaging in every imaginable form of BS to get an international agreement through this year or next, and after he gets the agreement he will tell NOAA to stop tampering – and will then take credit for the drop in temperature.
