Lake Ontario is freezing over very quickly, and has some very cold weather on the way.

The two warmest Februaries were 1779 and 1869. During the current decade, February temperatures have averaged almost 0.4C cooler than they did during the 1730’s.

Britain’s top climate experts announced the end of snow in Britain 14 years ago in March. And now they have record snow in the Lake District.

This was the coldest winter in Wisconsin since 1895 by a substantial margin.

However, I did an analysis of past NOAA data tampering in Wisconsin, and believe that there is a good chance they will declare that 1904, 1917, 1918, 1920 and possibly 1936, and 1979 were all colder. There is also a remote possibility they can push 1977 ahead of 2014, but that level of tampering might require approval from higher ups in the political chain.

My worst case tampering forecast has NOAA pushing this past winter back to #8 behind 1904, 1917, 1918, 1920, 1936, 1977, and 1979.

My best case tampering forecast is #5, behind 1904, 1917, 1936 and 1979. This assumes the same amount of tampering as last winter.

Last year, Sierra Club and University of Ottawa genius Paul Beckwith promised us an ice-free Arctic.

Instead the Arctic saw a 60% increase in extent last summer over 2012.

Now he is predicting seven metres of sea level rise.

Hiking at Pawnee National Grasslands this afternoon, it was so cold that I had to keep blinking to keep the ice from accumulating on my eyeballs. I didn’t see any daffodils on the first day of spring.

Penned cattle knee deep in shit, others standing on a four foot high mound of shit. Animals are covered in snow with a 20 MPH wind, no shelter and -25F wind chill. I took the picture this afternoon near Ault, Colorado.

Note that there are miles of empty grassland behind the cattle, and no reason to have them penned.

This is why I only buy free-range meat.
