In January, 1858 Adelaide had nine consecutive days over 100F, topping out at 116.3.
The graph below compares that to the “record heatwave” during the last nine days in Adelaide. The 1858 heatwave averaged 11 degrees warmer, with every day of the heatwave hotter than the corresponding day this year. CO2 was 280 PPM at the time.

Six years ago, King Obama Canute announced that he healed the planet. Apparently that didn’t work very well, as he still feels that he has to destroy the economy in order to stop the seas from rising.
Stopping the seas from rising is fine, but short term he needs to immediately sign an executive order banning assault droughts in California, or at least start a drought registry and background checks for Gaia.
TAR’s conclusion that “most of the observed warming over the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations”.
The climate ignored CO2 from 1940 to 1977, but once the PDO shifted in 1977 – Mann-made CO2 decided to get up off its lazy ass and really warm the place up.
After years of alarmists saying that I know nothing about climate (Reggie said I was the second stupidest person on the Internet) some climate scientist was accusing me on Twitter yesterday of being Dr. Judith Curry. (I angrily pointed out that I am Toto, not Judy.)
Perhaps they don’t think I’m so dumb after all.

About 15 years ago, some very well known government scientists made the decision to exaggerate Mann-made global warming in order to get funding and attention. They thought it was OK to lie and tamper with data, because eventually their psychosis would play out in the real world.
The climate didn’t cooperate, and now they are exponentially tampering with data to hide the cooling trend.
But they have a problem. Cold Pacific water is producing a severe drought in California, and near record cold is headed towards the Superbowl. Do they continue down the desperately criminal path they have chosen, does someone from the inside rat them out, or do they try to change course?

July 19, 1994BEGINNING about 1,100 years ago, what is now California baked in two droughts, the first lasting 220 years and the second 140 years. Each was much more intense than the mere six-year dry spells that afflict modern California from time to time, new studies of past climates show. The findings suggest, in fact, that relatively wet periods like the 20th century have been the exception rather than the rule in California for at least the last 3,500 years, and that mega-droughts are likely to recur.The evidence for the big droughts comes from an analysis of the trunks of trees that grew in the dry beds of lakes, swamps and rivers in and adjacent to the Sierra Nevada, but died when the droughts ended and the water levels rose. Immersion in water has preserved the trunks over the centuries.
Dr. Scott Stine, a paleoclimatologist at California State University at Hayward, used radiocarbon dating techniques to determine the age of the trees’ outermost annual growth rings, thereby establishing the ends of drought periods. He then calculated the lengths of the preceding dry spells by counting the rings in each stump.
