Jeff Masters Claims A Record Without Any Actual Data

Satellite loops show that Haiyan weakened only slightly, if at all, in the two hours after JTWC’s advisory, so the super typhoon likely made landfall with winds near 195 mph. This makes Haiyan the strongest tropical cyclone on record to make landfall in world history. The previous record was held by the Atlantic’s Hurricane Camille of 1969, which made landfall in Mississippi with 190 mph winds.

Dr. Jeff Masters’ WunderBlog : Super Typhoon Haiyan: Strongest Landfalling Tropical Cyclone on Record | Weather Underground

Alarmists are amazing, comparing aircraft measurements taken hours earlier with estimated surface measurements from Hurricane Camille (all of the wind gauges were destroyed) and then boldly declaring a record before any actual data is available.

The strongest surface winds being reported by Weather Underground in the region are 20 MPH.

The New Hockey Stick

Briffa’s trees were not showing the warming which Mann wanted to produce, so Mann chucked them out after 1960 and replaced them with Hansen’s garbage temperature data.

But now, the garbage temperature data isn’t producing any heating either, so Trenberth has chucked the thermometers and replaced them with imaginary missing deep ocean heat in computer models.

Difficult to imagine any group of people being more ridiculous than the hockey team. They make Monty Python’s witch burners look like world class scientists.

A Reminder Of The Historical Depravity Of The Obama Adminstration

In 1989, the White House told Hansen that he could not falsely represent his certainty or claim that his was the only point of view.

Toledo Blade – May 9, 1989

WASHINGTON – The White House is defending its decision to change the congressional testimony that a top government scientist gave on global warming.

The Bush administration yesterday stood behind the revisions. made by the Office of Management and Budget, and said they dealt, with statements of policy, not scientific evidence.
Dr James Hansen. director of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, told senators yesterday that OMB forced him to contradict in his written report his finding that a buildup of “greenhouse effect” gases would increase the likelihood of drought

In testimony before the Senate subcommittee on science, technology and space, Dr. Hansen said OMB told him to soften some of his observations and added a final paragraph that suggested his predictions might not be reliable.

The changes were made over his objections, he said.

“He’s an outstanding and distinguished scientist,” Mr. Fitzwater said. “We urge him to present his views in any and every forum possible.

“But we simply point out that there are other points of view on this issue and that the administration policy has not been established.”

OMB modified this recommendation with a disclaimer that his findings on the rate and magnitude of drought, storms, and temperature change are “estimates from evolving computer models” and are “not reliable predictions.”

Hansen proved to be dead wrong on everything, and the White House objections were correct. Lefties were hysterical that Hansen’s mindless nonsense was being toned down.

Compare that to Obama, who has declared that the only acceptable point of view is the one he holds, and strongly hinted that anyone who does not hold his point of view will be purged from the government.

“It doesn’t create jobs when you go after scientists, and you try to offer your own alternative theories of how things work and engage in litigation around stuff that isn’t political,”

“It has to do with what’s true. It has to do with facts. You don’t argue with facts.

No alternative theories are permitted, and truth is determined by whatever random thought is trapped inside Obama’s brain. This is what progressives call science.

Obama Is Better At Large Tasks

Obama is very good at big things like healing the planet and slowing the rise of the seas, but not as proficient at smaller tasks – like making web sites work and protecting ambassadors from spontaneous YouTube protesters, or ever telling the truth about anything.

1986 Hansen Shock Forecast : Five Degrees Warming By 2010

Sarasota Herald-Tribune – Jun 11, 1986

Dr. James E. Hansen of the Goddard Space Flight Center’s Institute for Space Studies said research by his institute showed that because of the “greenhouse effect” that results when gases prevent heat from escaping the earth’s atmosphere, global temperatures would rise early in the next century to “well above any level experienced in the past 100,000 years.”

Average global temperatures would rise by one-half a degree to one degree Fahrenheit from 1990 to 2000 if current trends are unchanged, according to Hansen’s findings. Hansen said the global temperature would rise by another 2 to 4 degrees in the following decade.

Unarmed Man Says He Is Really Good At Killing People

President Obama does not carry a gun, yet he says he is really good at killing people.

According to the new book “Double Down,” in which journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann chronicle the 2012 presidential election, President Barack Obama told his aides that he’s “really good at killing people” while discussing drone strikes. Peter Hamby of the Washington Post reported the moment in his review of the book.

Double Down: Obama said he’s “really good at killing people.”

This is confusing to me, because the press says that you can’t kill someone without a gun.

1989 Shock News : 12 Degrees Warming And 20 Feet Of Sea Level Rise By 2050

Doug MacAyeal, a geophysicist at the University of Chicago, has been developing a computer model to predict what might happen in the south polar region as a result of an increasing greenhouse effect, and expects to be able to make some accurate predictions on sea-level rise this summer But it is possible, he says now, that Antarctic warming could be as much as 12 degrees F in the Antarctic 60 years from now. And that, he projects, would be enough to detach the West Antarctic sheet, with a resulting water-level rise of 20 feet.

Let’s hope not. The far more conservative estimates of sea-level rise that most authorities project—say approximately five to seven feet
