Congress has finally taken action to reduce America’s carbon footprint, by shutting down the US government. Climate models show that a permanent shutdown of the Obama White House could potentially reduce sea level rise by as much as one inch to twenty metres over the next 5 years to 10,000 years.
The study by two Colorado researchers says Aspen Mountain in Colorado and Park City in Utah will see dramatic changes even with a reduction in carbon emissions, which fuel climate change.
If carbon emissions increase, the average temperature at Park City will be 10.4 degrees warmer by 2100, and there likely will be no snowpack, according to the study. Skiing at Aspen, with an average temperature 8.6 degrees higher than now, will be marginal.

The alarming loss of sea ice which has grown worse each summer over the past several decades, has taken a sharp turn for the worse: this year the loss is right in the middle, the most resilient part of the ice cover. This could lead to a completely ice-free Arctic Ocean by September.

I frequently go hiking about half a mile away from where the slide occurred. It is good stopping point when driving down to New Mexico. Beautiful area, but very steep rocky cliffs and lots of huge boulders lying around everywhere.
Why are they wasting their time trying to fix the government shutdown? They need to spend the next few days focused on trashing Obamacare.
Less than 40% of people want it, and the idea of forcing a massive change like this through without public consent is beyond obscene. They need to get this message through – and then Obama will cave.
Boehner is so worried about getting blamed, that he is going to end up creating exactly what he is afraid of. Doesn’t anyone in the Republican Party have any testosterone left, besides Sarah Palin? Boehner has to make his case for why he is doing it, not try to pretend that he isn’t.
