The distressed sheriff’s deputy in Bellvue who told me last week that the flood was a “natural disaster, not a photo op” appears to have gotten a little crazy with his yellow tape.

Now that emitting CO2 is a crime, it makes sense to call the flood a crime scene. (Assuming you have the IQ of a turnip.)

Two years ago as flood waters were rising on the Poudre River, I posted this video of a fawn and its mother trapped on an island. Eventually the mother crossed off the island, and the fawn was rescued by the La Porte fire department.

This is how that island looks today. Note the 18 inch diameter river rocks, transported there by countless large floods.

WASHINGTON – Rep. Andy Barr, R-6th District, joined Friday with many other coal-state lawmakers in attacking the Environmental Protection Agency’s rules to limit emissions from new power plants.

According to Weather Underground, the peak flow of the 1894 flood was four times larger than the 2013 flood. Comment below was made right at the peak on Sept. 13.

So far it seems the flow at 14th St on Boulder Creek downtown has just been 3,100 cfs whereas the 1894 event was four times that.

This flood, caused by a downpour, washed away much of the city of Boulder’s downtown district. Mountain rainfall, combined with snowmelt runoff,   produced the greatest flood known in Boulder County and inundated the valley. Every bridge   in Boulder Canyon was swept away destroying the highway and railroads as far up the canyon as Fourmile Canyon Creek. Buildings were destroyed at Crisman, Sunset, and Copper creeks. The town was isolated from other Colorado communities for five days.
