Screaming Arctic Update : North Pole Has Been Ice-Free For Five Years
25 April 2008
You know when climate change is biting hard when instead of a vast expanse of snow the North Pole is a vast expanse of water. This year, for the first time, Arctic scientists are preparing for that possibility.
“The set-up for this summer is disturbing,” says Mark Serreze, of the US National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC). A number of factors have this year led to most of the Arctic ice being thin and vulnerable as it enters its summer melting season.

Thanks For The Memories
In June I started pointing out that 2013 Arctic ice was tracking a little below 2006, and received a huge amount of grief from our friends.
And now summer is over and the results are in.

Arizona Summers Getting Cooler
There are 16 HCN stations in Arizona which have been continuously active since at least 1950. The number of 100ºF readings recorded at those stations has dropped by almost fifteen percent since the 1950s, and almost fifty percent since ten years ago.

Shock News : Evangelical Christian John Cook Is A Fraud
Letter: Global warming statistic on scientists is unreliable
The letter by Jason Joseph in the Aug. 25 Coloradoan concerning global warming statistics (“It’s necessary to look closer at global warming statistics”) was helpful in revealing the facts behind the oft-heard claim that 97 to 98 percent of “scientists” believe in human-caused global warming.
I have heard that number bandied about, most recently in a TV attack ad against U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman. As an engineer and scientist, I wondered about the number because I was not aware that there was that much unanimity in the scientific community. Reading comments in scientific journals, I see enough debate over the issue to make me believe there is far less agreement than the 98 percent figure would lead us to conclude.
People who use these statistics are clearly banking on the general public’s ignorance of science, and of the way in which the numbers were arrived at, to mislead us.
Cook was banking on Obama’s ignorance of statistics. Either that or Obama’s eagerness to have some fraudulent statistics generated for him.
As Joseph points out, the 98 percent came from 79 respondents of the 10,257 surveys that were sent out. That is hardly a number I would rely on.

You Simply Aren’t Qualified To Question Settled Science
Three weeks ago, NOAA announced an active hurricane season
Aug 08, 2013
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released an updated look at the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season. They believe this year’s hurricane season will remain fairly active with a 70% chance of seeing 13-19 named storms, 6-9 hurricanes, and 3-5 of those hurricanes becoming major hurricanes. These outlooks are based on weather trends and climate indicators that can show whether or not conditions are favorable for tropical development.
