Leading government experts say that CO2 generated by productive members of society controls the weather. Since we are having a record low number of hurricanes and tornadoes, and perfect crop growing weather in 2013 – it is becoming clear that coal fired electricity is making the world a much safer and happier place.
Coal and oil producers should be rewarded for keeping society functional, while simultaneously making the climate much safer. Imagine what a disaster it would be if left-wing nutcases couldn’t use their iPads because there was no electricity.

“We see a tipping point occurring right before our eyes,” Hansen told the AP before the luncheon. “The Arctic is the first tipping point and it’s occurring exactly the way we said it would.”
Hansen, echoing work by other scientists, said that in five to 10 years, the Arctic will be free of sea ice in the summer.

The alarming loss of sea ice which has grown worse each summer over the past several decades, has taken a sharp turn for the worse: this year the loss is right in the middle, the most resilient part of the ice cover. This could lead to a completely ice-free Arctic Ocean by September.

The question is of more than passing interest to climate scientists as they ponder the prospect that the sun may be about to enter such a period.
The coming flip of the sun’s magnetic field in a few months marks the peak of the current sunspot cycle – one that has produced the fewest sunspots in at least 100 years, and perhaps the last 200 years.
Peering at trends – or in some cases, the lack of them – in the sun’s behavior during the run-up to the current cycle’s peak, some solar physicists increasingly are considering the possibility that the sun may be on the verge of a “grand solar minimum,” comparable to a 70-year period running from the early 17th century into the early 18th century, when the sun produced no sunspots at all.

I was in DC on Sunday afternoon, scene of Barack Obama’s famous perspiration meltdown a few weeks ago. The temperature was 72 degrees at 4PM, and I don’t think I was sweating very much.
The overwhelming majority of people in northeastern Colorado want to secede from the People’s Demokraptik Republik of Boulder/Denver (formerly known as Colorado) but it is not going to happen unless the Senate switches to Republican hands next year.
The problem is that we need the US Senate to agree to it, and adding two Republican Senators would wipe the Dems out of power. It is amazing reading the comments from the Dems in the Fort Collins paper, who belittle and degrade the people of those counties – and can’t understand why they would want to escape forced governance by know-nothing, do-nothing, contribute-nothing, bigoted, small-minded, hateful, lunatics like themselves.
One thing progressives can’t stand is happy and free people who don’t share their endless neuroses.
The amount of thin, rotten, decayed, bald sea ice on Earth has increased by nearly 33,000 Manhattans since this date last year – almost doubling the previous record for annual ice gain.
Note that the amount of sea ice on Earth has increased during six of the last eight years.
NOAA says that these are the hottest years ever, and that the Arctic will soon be ice-free.
