New research shows that glaciologists still cannot say for certain whether the Earth’s north and south polar ice is melting faster

Here is a non-conclusion: after nine years of close observation, researchers still cannot be sure whether the planet is losing its ice caps at an accelerating rate.

In other words, they have been talking out of their asses for the past nine years.

That is because the run of data from one satellite is still not long enough to answer the big question: are Greenland and Antarctica melting because of global warming, or just blowing hot before blowing cold again in some long-term natural cycle?

What they are saying is that Greenland and Antarctica are both cooling, and the formerly hysterical scientists need to find a way to back out of all the BS they have been spreading.

Three weeks ago they announced that they were going to row the Northwest Passage – because global warming made it possible.  Now they say that the trip isn’t possible because it is too cold and there is too much ice, and that global warming is making it too warm there.

Strange weather has defined the year we are told. It’s been colder than usual and the ice has been very slow in going out. Climate change critics may quickly point this out as a damning argument but the reality of climate change is not reflected in specific anomaly but rather in overall trend.

They told us that getting rid of Bush would make them happy. Then they told us that getting Obama in the White House would make them happy. Then they told us that gay marriage would make them happy. Then they told us that carbon taxes would make them happy. Then they told us that gun bans would make then happy. Then they told us trying Zimmerman would make them happy.

Funny thing is …  the left is unhappier than ever – because feeding their mental illness has only made it stronger.

The Beaufort Sea is critical to determining late summer melt, and has above “normal” ice this year.

The reason Beaufort Sea ice is important is because it is at relatively low latitude and is blocking sunlight from entering the water, so the water is staying cold – making a big late summer melt very unlikely.
