Climate morons have this idea that Arctic sea ice used to hang around for thousands of years, until the SUV was invented.

In fact, Arctic sea ice never gets much over five years old. Eventually it all drifts  out into the North Atlantic and melts, mostly during winter. During the winters of 1988-1996, most of the older, thicker ice drifted out into the North Atlantic, causing extent to decline.

For the past three or four years, the pattern has reversed and much less old ice is drifting into the North Atlantic. This is causing Arctic ice extent to increase.

Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) vetoed legislation on Monday which would have authorized a long-term study to prepare the state’s communities and businesses for the effects of climate change.

As mayor of Waterville, Maine in 2010, LePage said in a radio interview, “I don’t know if global warming is a myth or not, but I will say this: I do not believe in the Al Gore science.” The Maine Public Broadcasting Network reported the gubernatorial candidate also said, “We just need to fight back” against “the scams.”

During that super-duper cold time, Death Valley set the hottest temperature ever recorded on Earth.

From July 8 to July 14, 1913 – Death Valley maximum temperatures averaged 129F  According to Hansen, that was the second coldest year ever.

I’m seeing hysterical weather reports all over the Internet about super-hot forecast temperatures in the Southwest this weekend.

Given that much of the region is expecting rain producing thunderstorms, this forecast seems overblown. It requires a lot of heat to evaporate water.

The Weather Underground forecast for Phoenix shows temperatures this week between 104 and 117F.  That is not particularly unusual for this time of year. In 1974 they had 19 straight days over 110F, and of course we had no A/C in the frat house!
