I’m curious how any adult could be dense enough to believe that ice only melts if the temperature is rising?  Does that mean they believe that the ice in their glass can not melt after 5:00 pm, when the temperature starts to fall?

Temperatures peaked 8,000 years ago, and have been falling ever since.

Rising sea level means that we are in an interglacial. When sea level stops rising, that means were are descending into an ice age.
