Pat Smith, the mother of one of the victims of the Benghazi consulate attacks, went on the Huckabee show yesterday to deliver a message to Hillary Clinton.

“I want to wish Hillary a Happy Mother’s Day,” she said. “She has her child. I don’t have mine because of her.”

Huckabee asked Smith if she was somewhat comforted by the Congressional hearings about the attacks last week.

“Absolutely not,” she said. “I am still waiting to answers to just about everything.”

I went out to Pawnee Grasslands this morning, near the intersection of Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado. The primroses are starting to pop up everywhere, and in a few weeks will carpet the ground like snow.

On the way back I saw about 30 Pronghorn Antelope and several newborn foals, which couldn’t have been more than a day or two old. A few more mares looked like they were ready to deliver at any time.

The photo above is looking across towards Longs Peak, which has about 120% of normal snow cover according to USDA. Note that the trees around the lake have still not leafed out  as of May 12, which is about six weeks late.

Climate experts say that global warming brings an early spring, and is going to kill us all.

Authorities have arrested a 12-year-old boy in the fatal stabbing of his 8-year-old sister at her home in a quiet Northern California community last month.

Calaveras County Sheriff Gary Kuntz told reporters at a news conference that the boy was taken into custody Saturday afternoon and will be charged with homicide, Fox40.com reported.

There has been no trend in springtime temperatures in the US since at least 1895.

Two years ago we had record spring snowfall in Colorado, which apparently prompted Berwyn to wonder if global warming was targeting us.

This year we have also had record snowfall along the Front Range, and the entire state has had far below normal temperatures.

Even music and beer can’t get the locals worried about global warming.

The 2013 Colorado Climate Festival brought out several activists and a couple hundred attendees to Denver’s Civic Center on Saturday.

Although organizers had hoped for a larger crowd, the event was still a chance for activists to raise awareness and encourage residents to do more to stem global warming, conserve water and drive less.

In addition to live music, beer and organization booths, the festival had seven speakers address what’s being done about the climate situation and how Coloradans can do more.

“We’re trying to create activists,” said Auden Schendler, one of the speakers.

A local state of emergency has been declared in a western Manitoba municipality after homes in Ochre Beach were destroyed and seriously damaged by a wave of lake ice.

Area officials told CBC News the wind pushed built-up ice off Dauphin Lake on Friday evening and caused it to pile up in the community, located on the lake’s southern shore.

The piles of ice, which were more than nine metres tall in some cases, destroyed at least six homes and cottages, according to the Rural Municipality of Ochre River.

Another 14 homes suffered extensive damage, with some structures knocked off their foundations.

Clayton Watts, Ochre River’s deputy reeve, said it’s a miracle no one was hurt.

He told CBC News one minute people were watching hockey in their living rooms, the next they heard something that sounded like a freight train near their homes.
