Why Is the Media Ignoring Discovery Channel Gunman’s Radical Views?

James Lee, who walked into the headquarters of the Discovery Channel Wednesday, taking hostages, was an environmental radical who believed people were destroying the planet.

According to a manifesto of sorts he posted on the Internet, Lee believed that “Civilization must be exposed for the filth that it is” and demanded that the Discovery Channel and its affiliated networks stop airing programs “encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions.”

Oddly enough, it’s a view shared–perhaps not directly but at least in the same general neighborhood–by any number of prominent thinkers and talkers who take a dim view of the impact mankind has on the planet.

Lee, who not only holed up with hostages but had pipe bombs strapped to his body, was, in the general sense, antimankind–as he said on his Web site in a somewhat distorted echo of the prophecies and prescriptions of Zero Population Growth founder Paul Ehrlich. “Saving the Planet means saving what’s left of the non-human Wildlife by decreasing the Human population. That means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies!”

Ehrlich, it is worth noting, predicted in the late 1960s in his book The Population Bomb that the resource needs of mankind could not keep pace with the growth of the world’s population and, as a result, global famine would be commonplace by the mid-1970s or early 1980s.

According to news reports Lee was also influenced, alarmed, and possibly even spurred to action by former Vice President Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth, which holds out equally dim prospects for the future of mankind as long as necessities like the internal combustion engine are allowed to continue in operation.

Climate experts have exposed themselves again as being completely incompetent – by blaming the cold and snow on a phenomenon which is not happening and wouldn’t make any sense as a cause even if it was happening.

It would be impossible for scientists to be more incompetent than the hockey team.

Experts have been telling us that Colorado in extreme drought and that it is only going to get worse.

The Colorado Climate Center at CSU confirmed this storm’s record of 14.9 inches at the university’s central campus. Higher elevation areas got significantly more snow, including 27 inches near Estes Park.

Vail and Breckenridge Extend Ski Seasons

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — April 16, 2013 —Breckenridge Ski Resort and Vail officials announced today they will extend the two resorts’ ski seasons one additional weekend, April 19-21, due to the large amounts of snow the resorts have received over the last part of the season. Breckenridge has received over five feet of snow so far in April, including another 16 inches since the official closing on Sunday.  At Vail 24 inches has fallen since closing day of the 50^th anniversary season. Additional snow is in the forecast this week for both resorts.

March was a very cold month in the US, the coldest March since 1995. But NCDC did their best hide the decline by adjusting March temperatures upwards by a record 1.25F relative to the raw HCN data which it is based on.

Note that they adjusted March 2013 upwards 4.2 degrees relative to 1945. Also note that the published temperature trend is almost identical to the adjustments.

Kerry called climate change a global threat as he addressed an energy cooperation seminar on Saturday also attended by Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi.

“We are seeing the science of climate change come back to us now at a rate that is far faster and with far greater levels of damage than anything that scientists predicted 10, 15, 20 years ago,” he stated. “Every prediction that has been made is coming true, but coming true bigger and more dangerously.”
