March snow in the northern hemisphere, let alone in a high-altitude city like Denver, Colorado, may not seem unusual, but it is. Denver doesn’t usually get blizzards this time of year, which may be why FIFA felt comfortable scheduling a match there on the second day of spring. And while it’s impossible to attribute any particular storm to climate change, warming trends are clearly leading to more powerful winter weather. Denver will get a foot of snow before this storm is over.

March is the snowiest month of the year in Colorado. One of the standard claims of alarmists is that global warming brings declining spring snow cover. These people have absolutely no shame.

Fort Collins has only had one March 24 below 0F, which occurred in 1952.  Depending on what happens over the next couple of hours at the official thermometer, today will be the coldest March 24 since either 1974, 1964, 1962 or 1952.

All energy flow is driven by differences in energy, not absolute energy.

Team climate moron tells us that global warming produces stronger storms, because “there is more energy in the system.” The level of stupidity behind that remark defies explanation.

Consider a battery. It does nothing until the positive and negative terminals are connected.  It is the difference in energy which drives electricity flow.

Consider a high pressure system. There is little wind, until a low pressure system comes nearby. It is the difference in pressure which drives the wind.

Tornadoes occur in the spring, because warm wet air comes in contact with cold dry air. It is the difference in energy and humidity which drives the tornado.

Tropical Storm Sandy was so large, because it intersected with very cold Arctic air. It was the difference in energy which drove the storm.

Venus is uniformly hot, and has no storms and almost no wind. There are no energy differences on the surface of Venus.

Bottom line is that global warming should produce less severe weather, because of polar amplification  The difference in energy between the poles and the equator is reduced.

ONE million homes narrowly escaped a power cut last month as bitterly cold weather placed a massive strain on Britain’s creaking electricity network.

And as a spell of bitter cold once more hits the UK, the near switch-off which came so perilously close on that freezing afternoon, underscores the magnitude of the energy crisis.

Fawley is one of a number of coal and oil power stations being forced into retirement to comply with EU environmental targets.  The EU “large combustion plant directive”, aimed at cutting airborne pollution, will force ageing power stations to close by 2015. But they will be shut down before that if they use their allocated generating time earlier.

Britain is in trouble because they listened to NASA’s James Hansen five years ago, who was completely wrong about everything he told them.

Climate target is not radical enough

Hansen said his findings were not a recipe for despair. The good news, he said, is that reserves of fossil fuels have been exaggerated, so an alternative source of energy will have to be rapidly put in place in any case.

Other measure could include a moratorium on coal power stations which would bring the C02 levels to below 400ppm.  Hansen’s revised position will pile yet further pressure on Britain over plans to build a new generation of coal power stations. Last year he wrote to Gordon Brown urging him to block the first such power station; the Royal Society has made similar suggestions to the government.

Hansen has succeeded in doing what Hitler failed to do – bring Britain to her knees.

Climate imbeciles say that more energy in the system causes more severe storms.

That is why the weather is so bad in Hawaii, and so good in Winnipeg.

Why is the idiot in chief tasked with making this no-brainer decision?

The Keystone decision still ultimately rests with President Obama, who appears to be dithering — and procrastinating like mad. From The Hill:

In meetings with Obama last week, House and Senate Republicans pressed the president for a timeline on his decision — about which Obama was vague. …

Obama has been noncommittal on Keystone. According to some Senate Republicans present at last week’s confab, the president said his decision would come by year’s end.

In June, 2008 Obama boldly prophesied :

I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that  this … was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow

Sadly, it appears that there has been no change in the rate of sea level rise since he made that speech. Obama is going to have to take very low marks for that prophesy.
