Eventually the atmosphere will heat up so much that Chicago will again be buried in ice.

There is a huge area of Arctic sea ice north of Canada which is 3-5 metres thick, and is located in places which almost never get above 2C in mid-summer. This ice is not going to melt out during summer at any time in the foreseeable future.

People who forecast an ice-free Arctic are complete imbeciles.

I have been comparing published NCDC US temperatures to the raw HCN temperatures which they are supposed to be derived from. The graph below plots the difference between NCDC published US temperatures and HCN temperatures for all stations which have been continuously active since at least 1920. Note that the 1930s have suffered about 1.4F tampering relative to 2012.

Paul Homewood has approached this from a different angle. He compared the original weather bureau documents of published temperatures to the current NCDC temperatures, and found the same thing.

I reported a few days ago how the original CONUS temperatures, as recorded State by State in 1934, were 1.23F higher than NCDC now show. The original figure of 55.37F has since been adjusted down to 54.14F. As a result, 2012, at 55.34F, is officially the hottest year on record for the CONUS.  However, reader Daryl spotted that I had overstated the size of Maine. The result is that I had underestimated the original 1934 temperature by 0.16F, thus making NOAA’s adjustment even greater, at 1.38F.

This tampering is almost 3X larger than the USHCN documented tampering, and is clearly fraudulent.

NOAA records going back to the 1850s show that Florida used to average about one hurricane per year. Now they average one every other year. It has been eight years since Florida was hit by any hurricane, their longest hurricane-free period on record.

Obama has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. Major hurricanes occur half as often as they did 70 years ago, and there have been no US major hurricane strikes for eight years. During the 1940s and 1950s, the US was hit by a major hurricane almost every year.

As far as drought goes, the current drought is far less severe than many others the US has faced in the past. Again, Obama has no idea what he is talking about.

As far as fire goes, no recent fire has come anywhere close to the size of many past fires. Obama is willing to wreck the US Constitution based on wild misinformation and an insane, irrational belief that he can control the climate. He should be impeached for malfeasance immediately. He is a world class nutcase.

Kentucky would not enforce any federal law or regulation made after Jan. 1, 2013, if it bans or restricts ownership of a semi-automatic firearm or requires gun registration under a bill a state Senate committee approved Thursday.  The measure is needed to protect the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gives people the right to keep and bear arms, said Sen. Jared Carpenter, R-Berea, who sponsored the measure.

Sen. Kathy Stein, D-Lexington, rejected that argument, saying it is Senate Bill 129, not federal gun regulations proposed in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, that would violate the U.S. Constitution. She said that amounts to treason.

 “The sequester is not something that I’ve proposed,” Obama said. “It is something that Congress has proposed.”

The White House chief of staff at the time, Jack Lew, who had been budget director during the negotiations that set up the sequester in 2011, backed up the president two days later.

“There was an insistence on the part of Republicans in Congress for there to be some automatic trigger,” Lew said while campaigning in Florida. It “was very much rooted in the Republican congressional insistence that there be an automatic measure.”

The president and Lew had this wrong. My extensive reporting for my book “The Price of Politics” shows that the automatic spending cuts were initiated by the White House and were the brainchild of Lew and White House congressional relations chief Rob Nabors — probably the foremost experts on budget issues in the senior ranks of the federal government.

Obama personally approved of the plan for Lew and Nabors to propose the sequester to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). They did so at 2:30 p.m. July 27, 2011, according to interviews with two senior White House aides who were directly involved.
