Global temperatures are not increasing and the Arctic is frozen solid.
That may not be news to Alaskans coping with another round of 50-below during the coldest winter in two decades, or to the mariners locked out of the Bering Sea this spring by record ice growth.
Then again, it might. The 49th state has long been labeled one of the fastest-warming spots on the planet. But that’s so 20th Century.

The ball has dropped in Times Square, with CNN anchors trying to have oral sex on camera. Apparently Manhattan is not underwater.
Temperatures have warmed from -78F to -54F and play has been resumed. Some of the OOB flags are starting to disappear under the snow though.
Many foreigners imagine that the US is a wild west shooting gallery, and nothing could be farther from the truth.
Most of the households here in Colorado own guns, and the thought of being shot never occurs to me. I have been hit by cars on my bicycle twice, and have close calls nearly every week.
Unless you live in an inner city controlled by gangs (where guns are illegal) your chances of being shot in the US are extremely low. The only shooting murder which has ever occurred in my neighborhood was done by the Fort Collins police.
On the other hand, bad drivers kill someone every 15 minutes in the US, and injure someone every few seconds. No one is talking about having a national registry to fingerprint drivers.

The Problem
Increasing Debt: Under President Bush, the federal debt has increased from $5.7 trillion to $8.8 trillion, an increase of more than 50 percent.
Obama has doubled the debt to $16.5 trillion.
Cut Pork Barrel Spending: Obama introduced and passed bipartisan legislation that would require more disclosure and transparency for special interest earmarks. Obama and Biden believe that spending that cannot withstand public scrutiny cannot be justified. Obama and Biden will slash earmarks to no greater than year 1994 levels and ensure all spending decisions are open to the public.
Make Government Spending More Accountable and Efficient: Obama and Biden will ensure that federal contracts over $25,000 are competitively bid. Obama and Biden will also increase the efficiency of government programs through better use of technology, stronger management that demands accountability and by leveraging the government’s high volume purchasing power to get lower prices.
End Wasteful Government Spending: Obama and Biden will stop funding wasteful, obsolete federal government programs that make no financial sense. Obama and Biden have called for an end to subsidies for oil and gas companies that are enjoying record profits, as well as the elimination of subsidies to the private student loan industry which has repeatedly used unethical business practices. Obama and Biden will also tackle wasteful spending in the Medicare program.

Illegal guns are wrecking US cities, so Diane Feinstein wants to disarm the honest people
Last week Chicago marked its 500 homicide this year. “The city has seen its 500th homicide for 2012, a tragic number that is reflective of the gang violence and proliferation of illegal guns that have plagued some of our neighborhoods,” said Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy in a statement last week.
“Every homicide in Chicago is unacceptable to me and the hardworking men and women of the Chicago Police Department, who, this year, achieved a record drop in overall crime throughout our city.”
