“We see a tipping point occurring right before our eyes,” Hansen told the AP before the luncheon. “The Arctic is the first tipping point and it’s occurring exactly the way we said it would.”
Hansen, echoing work by other scientists, said that in five to 10 years, the Arctic will be free of sea ice in the summer.

Iceberg calving has nothing to do with melt, climate change or anything else these morons imagine. Glaciers flow to the sea and calve icebergs. That is what they do.
What does The Guardian think happens to the two trillion cubic metres of snow which falls on Greenland every year?

Sea level is not rising in California. The tide gauge at Crescent City shows sea level declining and the ones at Alameda and Monterey show no change in sea level. Satellites show no sea level rise along the entire west coast.

These, of course, are just visions of wintertime future produced by climatologists and their computers

Had these geniuses bothered to look at actual data, they would know that winter snow extent is increasing

One might also remember that Texas had their snowiest winter on record last year. as did Alaska and much of Europe. Being a successful climate scientist requires that you don’t understand the limitations of computer hardware or software. A computer model is not an excuse for being a moron.
The reason why Arctic sea ice summer minimums have been low recently is because there is a lot less thick multi-year ice than there was 20 years ago.
Experts say that this confirms global warming, but it has little to do with it. Most multi-year ice is lost during the winter, not the summer. The ice gets blown by strong winter winds out into the North Atlantic, where it melts. During the winters from 1988-1996, most of the multi-year ice was lost.
People who get hysterical about the location of the ice edge in September, are complete morons.
A few years ago the alarmist story went like this :
Greenland was warmer during the 1940s, but the current warming is on the Alaska/Siberia side as well.
Now that Alaska is cooling and experiencing record sea ice, the part of the story which remains is
Greenland was warmer during the 1940s
The “consensus” says Sandy had nothing to do with global warming, but McKibben has never been interested in science anyway.
