In other words – they have no indication that there was a hack, they have no idea who collected the files, but they do know that the zipped files were transmitted over the Internet by someone.

Some scientists believe that this may be a natural occurrence, but the scale of the break has others concerned. “We’re still in the phase of scratching our heads and figuring out how big a deal this really is,” says Ian Howat, an ice scientist at Ohio University. Several of Greenland’s glaciers have been warming at a rapid pace, with data indicating that they’re heating up five times faster than the average global temperature. Temperatures in the region have risen by 4 degrees Fahrenheit over the past 30 years.
Scientist remain concerned over the shift in Greenland’s climate over the past three years, with NASA glaciologist Eric Rignot saying that the occurrence “is not part of natural variations anymore.” As to what will happen to the new iceberg, it’s likely that it will break off into smaller pieces and drift towards Newfoundland. A similar pattern occurred with another iceberg in 2010. Meanwhile, the Arctic saw the largest sea ice loss during June since records began.

What a load of complete NASA crap. Vikings farms are just now reappearing from under the ice. There is no question that Greenland has been as warm or warmer – most recently during the 1930s.
The Titanic wasn’t the only ship which collided with an iceberg in 1912.
Andrew “Permanent Drought” Dessler has been telling us that drought in Texas is due to CO2. So I plotted PMDI vs CO2, and PMDI vs. ENSO.
Negative PMDI indicates dry conditions, and correlates quite well with La Nina. Texas has never been dry with ENSO above 1.0 (i.e. El Nino)
On the other hand, Texas drought shows anti-correlation with CO2. As CO2 has increased, Texas has had fewer droughts. What this tells us is that Dessler has never done any actual research on this subject using actual data. It took me 10 minutes to gather the data and do this analysis.

The recent evolution of ENSO, with a major new El Niño event underway in 1997, reinforces the evidence that the tendency for more El Niño and fewer La Niña events since the late 1970s is highly unusual and very unlikely to be accounted for solely by natural variability.
Since he wrote that paper in 1997, ENSO has plummeted.

If she floats she’s a witch; if she sinks she’s innocent — but now drowned, alas. The witch trials that swept through Europe from the 1300’s into the 1700’s baffle the rational modern mind. Why Europeans suddenly concluded that many of their neighbors were casting curses and smiting their crops remains a historical mystery.
That hardly implies a shortage of theories. Some have traced witch-related paranoia to the demonization of female folk healers and midwives by a nascent male medical establishment. Others have emphasized the theological anxieties of the Reformation or suggested an epidemic of syphilis (whose symptoms could resemble demonic possession). On this side of the Atlantic, fungus-infested rye, which can cause hallucinations, has been proposed as a factor in the Salem, Mass., witch scare of 1692.
In the Winter 2004 issue of The Journal of Economic Perspectives, Emily Oster, an economics graduate student at Harvard, suggests a more banal explanation of witch mania: the weather. From 1520 to 1770, according to Oster, spikes in witch trials coincided with sharp drops in temperature. Cold and harsh conditions may have devastated crops, she theorizes, leaving Europeans starving and looking for someone to blame.
Oster is not the first scholar to propose a connection between the advent of cold weather and the killing of witches. (The fact that a ”little ice age” settled over Europe in the era of the witch scare has attracted the attention of researchers.) But she is the first to map temperature against trial records, decade by decade. Among other things, she found that one of the steepest single temperature drops, around 1560, coincides with a mysterious resurgence in trials after a lull of 70 years.
The idea that witches lay waste to crops was once conventional wisdom. In a papal bull of 1484, Pope Innocent VIII wrote, ”It has indeed lately come to Our ears . . . many persons of both sexes . . . have blasted the produce of the earth, the grapes of the vine, the fruits of the trees.” According to Oster’s research, crops really were devastated when charges of necromancy flew. The witches themselves, however, were simply climate-change scapegoats.

From about 1978 to 2006, I was a true believer.
Skipping the first few decades … Colorado went through a terrible drought during 2002-2003, and then 2006 started out hot. January was more like April, and July was more like Arizona. I was convinced that we had ruined the atmosphere.
But then came September, and the weather turned cold and wet. December was the biggest snowstorm in the history of Fort Collins, and the rest of the winter was bitter cold. With the arrival of the cold, I realized that all the trapped heat crap I had been hearing for 30 years was probably nonsense. Greenhouses don’t stay below zero F for weeks on end.
For the next few years I studied, and I watched the hockey team convert from confused to criminal. Over the last 24 months, global warming has gone from an interesting theory – to the biggest scientific scam in history. Almost all of their projections have failed miserably, so they have reverted to massive data tampering, denial, and outright fabrications.
A man should know when he is defeated.
