SUMMIT COUNTY — Showing signs of increasing desperation, global warming deniers are trying to deflect attention from the clear and present danger of heatwaves, severe storms and wildfires by publishing questionable long-range weather maps suggesting next winter will bring below average temperatures.

Hardly anyone is listening. It’s tough to pay attention to nonsense when the temperature outside is 107 and an unusually intense thunderstorm knocks out your power.

The two hottest Junes in US history were 1933 and 1918. In May 1934, Iowa hit 111 degrees. In August 1913, Oklahoma City was over 110 degrees on twenty-two days. Our generation has experienced nothing close to these extremes.

Plus, the same people, like infamous denier Joe Bastardi, to name just one, have made the same claims before, only to be proved wrong time and time again. During last summer’s brutal heat wave, they told us not to worry, next year will be cooler.

Guess what? Now it’s “next year” and it’s hotter than ever. Perhaps the exact location of the hotspots have shifted a bit, but the bottom line is, people are starting to notice that the extreme heat is not letting up. To the contrary, the ratio of record highs compared to record lows keeps increasing and the heatwaves are lasting longer.

Classic yellow spotted cherry picking. The planet always has hot spots (falling air) and cool spots (rising air)  Australia, Brazil, and the UK are having exceptionally cold weather. Temperatures at the North Pole have been running below normal. Temperatures on both US coasts were below normal in June. Bob is sitting under a warm spot (A blistering 80 degrees in Vail) and it has confused him.

Complete drivel. 1907 was the coldest year on record in the US according to GISS, and was followed by a category 2 hurricane in March 1908 and a hurricane which hit the US on May 24.

Why can’t they use personal biomass to cool their homes? Obama has been (de-)powering the US off his BS for almost four years now.

During July 2007, very strong winds blew across the Bering Strait and pushed the ice edge to the north by dozens of miles per day. The winds continued all summer and compacted the ice towards the pole. Note how far the ice had receded by July 15.

This year, the water is extremely cold in the Bering Sea, and the ice in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas is thick. Winds have been calm for a couple of weeks. Barring a major shift in weather patterns, there isn’t going to be much ice area loss in the Chukchi or Beaufort Seas during the next few weeks.

Things can change, but right now everything hints at slow melt after the Hudson Bay melts out.

Julia (the pasty Welsh girl) says that Australians need to be punished because their per capita CO2 emissions are high. (Unlike Mexico, which has the highest per capita methane emissions – due to Pinto Beans.)

The fact that Australia’s total CO2 emissions are relatively about the size of a gnat on a hair  on an elephant’s ass – isn’t important. It also isn’t important that her tax will have no effect on the climate. What is important is that per capita emitters are duly punished.

So I made a list of top per capita emitters of CO2.

• James Cameron
• Barack Obama – who flew to Colorado to see the damage that CO2 caused.

Spain hasn’t beaten Italy in a competitive match since just after World War I. For some reason, oddsmakers are favoring Spain. They made the same mistake with Germany, who have never beaten Italy in a tournament. Sometimes the experts are quite daft, even in football.

My prediction since before the semis was Italy 3 – Spain 2 and Balotelli scoring the winning goal. So far my prediction is two-thirds right, with the final third to be determined tomorrow.

Now I am going to throw in one more idea. Balotelli is a  free agent. Why doesn’t Barcelona pick him up? The Barca midgets desperately need a big aggressive striker. That would free up space for Messi and allow Barca to actually take corner kicks.

AC Milan proved that you can shut Messi down by not giving him any space, and Balotelli is just the guy to create it. Either Barcelona or Chelsea should pick up Balotelli. Man City has Toure and they don’t need Super-Mario. Barcelona and Chelsea do.

In classic Soviet style, none of the leading alarmists will engage in debate. Romm censors any comment which disagrees with his claims. Gleick turned down an offer to debate at Heartland, then committed several felonies against them and said he did it because he “just wanted an honest debate.”

When the North Carolina Senate passed a bill requiring that sea level projections be based on actual measured data, the climate scum in the press immediately took over the airwaves screaming that ignorant rednecks in North Carolina had made “sea level rise illegal.”

This is a blatant lie, mis-characterization and a way to smear opponents and avoid having to have an honest debate.  The reason they lie and avoid debate is because they have no facts on their side.  They are parasites, who live off the life blood of honest hard working people.

Sleepy North Carolina became an international topic of conversation (and ridicule) this month thanks to our state legislature’s bills declaring sea level rise “illegal”, or more accurately, insisting that state planning for future sea level be based only on “historical records”, meaning tide gage measurments during the last century (translation; there is no acceleration of sea level rise here folks – now move along).

Cook is trying to make the case that sea level rise is accelerating (positive second derivative) when in fact it isn’t even rising (zero first derivative.)

The climate nutjobs need to learn the difference between sea level rise and subsidence.

2012 will be remembered as the year when the primary focus of attention of the climate mafia was on sea level. It started with the amazing transformation of Envisat, which more than quadrupled its historical rise rate overnight – during the week before it was suddenly and unexpectedly terminated. The blink comparator below shows the changes – at the same scale on both axes.

Remarkably, the transition from a strong El Nino to a strong La Nina in 2010, changed in the graph from a several centimetre drop – to an increase. By some magical new physical law, cooling water expanded.

Since then, we have been bombarded with one mindless study after another claiming sea level rise rates that defy observation, physical law and common sense. The scientific approach is simple. The conclusion is reached in advance, the money is distributed, and then the researchers produce whatever bogus numbers are needed to make the funding source happy.

My 15 year old just explained to me why all these moronic sea level studies are coming out right now.
