Hansen – “coal is the single greatest threat to civilisation and all life on our planet.”
A year ago, I wrote to Gordon Brown asking him to place a moratorium on new coal-fired power plants in Britain. I have asked the same of Angela Merkel, Barack Obama, Kevin Rudd and other leaders. The reason is this – coal is the single greatest threat to civilisation and all life on our planet.

Carbon dioxide would increase to 500 ppm or more. We would set the planet on a course to the ice-free state, with sea level 75 metres higher

La Niña Watch issued for next 6 months
PORTLAND – A La Niña Watch has been issued for the Northern Hemisphere by the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center.
As usual, the world’s top-rated climatologist had it backwards.
Based on subsurface ocean temperatures, the way these have progressed the past several months, and comparisons with development of prior El Niños, we believe that the system is moving toward a strong El Niño starting this summer

Oklahoma August Maximum Temperatures Have Declined Dramatically
August, 2011 has been hot in Meeker, Oklahoma – the closest USHCN station to Oklahoma City. The average high temperature has been 102F.

PBS Brings Publicly Funded Superstition To America
Across the United States, extreme heat has claimed the lives of at least 60 people
The point of the story is that global warming is causing a record number of heat records and deaths. As usual, PBS has not done their homework. During the third week of July, 1936 – 12,000 died from the heat in one week.

Miami Sea Level Vice
Climate change could bring flooding throughout Fort Lauderdale in next century
By Scott Wyman August 23, 2011 03:33 PM
FORT LAUDERDALE The city that calls itself the Venice of America will become increasingly like its namesake as sea levels rise over the coming decades, experts predict.More and more residents will find their neighborhoods and streets flooded, environmental officials warned city commissioners Tuesday. Low-lying areas like posh Las Olas Isles will experience the brunt first, but much of the eastern portion of the city as well as downtown will be affected within the next century.
Environmental agencies project the ocean will rise in the region between 2 and 5 feet by 2100 as a result of global climate change.
Sea level has scarcely changed in Miami this millennium.

Perry : Hung Out To Dry
Rick Perry made some bold and largely correct comments about the global warming scam this week, but it seems that his staff has provided him no facts to back them up. He is going to get beaten to a pulp – unless his staff gets on the ball immediately.
Despite Rick Perry, consensus on climate change keeps strengthening
Over the past few days, fact-checkers have been kept busy debunking this statement from Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), on why he doesn’t believe that humans are heating the planet: “I think we’re seeing it almost weekly or even daily, scientists who are coming forward and questioning the original idea that man-made global warming is what is causing the climate to change.”

Aggie Joke : Dessler Has A Plan To End The Drought In Texas
“I certainly don’t think that praying will hurt. My concern is that the governor has no Plan B. If praying doesn’t work, what then? If we don’t start taking reasonable steps to protect ourselves soon, then I will indeed be praying – for better leadership in Austin.”
Maybe a carbon tax? Does this guy honestly believe that the Governor has the power to end the drought?
