Severe Winter Weather Outlook Issued For Ireland And UK

A number of senior UK-based academics have published their findings in the journal Environmental Research Letters.  The basis for the wintry outlook is that relatively cold winters in the United Kingdom and Ireland are more common when solar activity is low.

The findings follow on from one of the coldest winters experienced in Ireland and Britain in more than 45 years.

Using the Central England Temperature (CET) record, which dates back to mid-17th century, the research  team said that average temperatures during recent winters had been markedly lower than the longer-term average.

According to the authors of the new report: “The mean CET for December, January and February for the recent relatively cold winters of 2008/09 and 2009/10 were 3.50C and 2.53C respectively. Whereas the mean value for the previous 20 winters had been 5.04C. The cluster of lower winter temperatures in the UK during the last three years had raised questions about the probability of more similar, or even colder, winters occurring in the future”.

Global-warming panel to Earth’s rescue … for a price

Hundreds of United Nations global warming scientists just met in France via Earth-destroying air travel, at a time of unseasonably cool temperatures across France, to once again justify their funding. Apparently the overall temperature of Earth is set to maybe rise 4 degrees in the next hundred years. You can bet when climate scientists get together to discuss “solutions” to these hypothetical “problems,” they’re going to come up with ways to make humans suffer for being jerks to the planet.

The group — the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) — has a new assessment report focused on “risk management and the framing of a response through both adaptation and mitigation.” It’s a modified focus compared with previous reports. A sign, perhaps, that the IPCC has given up on stopping livestock from passing flatulence — the primary source of climate change gas — and accepted our pending doom at the hands of our farting overlords.

I’d also like to contribute to the cause of how we can all better contend with an apparently devastating temperature rise of probably less than one degree over our lifetimes.

Because it’s hard to justify doing anything differently for something so logically insignificant, I’ll pretend, as climate scientists do, that I’ll lose my funding and livelihood if I can’t make something out of nothing. I’ll be exaggerating, pretending that a one-degree rise is more like a hundred. Let’s start in Europe, where this lunacy starts, before spreading like a plague to North America.

In high school, I knew a girl who got her “short leg” healed about a dozen times at Pentecostal prayer meetings. Global warming faith is almost as intelligent.

Drastic changes in global climate patterns will pose a dire threat to peace and security around the world, warns the United Nations Secretary-General.

“Extreme weather events continue to grow more frequent and intense in rich and poor countries alike, not only devastating lives, but also infrastructure, institutions, and budgets — an unholy brew which can create dangerous security vacuums,” Ban Ki-moon said in an address to the Security Council on Wednesday during a debate on the impact of climate change.

He noted that the UN climate change meeting scheduled for this December in Durban, South Africa must reach an agreement on the reduction of greenhouses gas emissions, among other measures.
