Gore : Science And Reason Versus Poisonous Polluters!

Admittedly, the contest over global warming is a challenge for the referee because it’s a tag-team match, a real free-for-all. In one corner of the ring are Science and Reason. In the other corner: Poisonous Polluters and Right-wing Ideologues.

1958 : Arctic Ice Same Thickness As Today

Some amazing gems in this article. A fascinating explanation of what causes ice ages.

Ice was the same thickness in 1958 as today, and “steadily thinning.”

Arctic Ocean is ice free during ice ages. This is plausible. We know that the Bering Strait was ice free when people crossed from Asia to North America.

This is what I have been saying. In situ melt is not the cause Arctic ice loss over the last 20 years. The whole summer extent game is a mindless distraction.

Rising sea levels trigger ice ages

Arctic Ice Extent Loss Continues To Be Slow

Loss during the the last seven days.

How far it has to go to get to a record.

Comparison vs. the same date in 2007. During July 2007, ice was disappearing from the East Siberian Sea very quickly. That is not happening in 2011, and why the chances of a record low are pretty close to nil.

Global Warming Caused Sharks To Take Over Brisbane

A new horror for the unfortunate victims of Australia’s widespread flooding (a submerged area the size of France and Germany combined) is news that several dangerous creatures are floating in the waters around them.  Officials are warning residents of Brisbane, the country’s second-largest city, to avoid venturing into the flood waters as aggressive bull sharks have been spotted swimming through the streets.

One man now camped out on his rooftop told BBC News that he watched as one swam past his home Friday. “It was a bull shark and it was spotted in a local suburban street,” Rob Minshull said. “We do have sharks in the Brisbane River; they have obviously come over the flood barriers and come looking for food.”

A local butcher spotted two sharks swimming near his local shop in Goodna and another pair of bull sharks were spotted swimming past a local McDonald’s restaurant.

Conspiracy : The World Is Getting More Severe

the USGS does show a marked increase in the severity of natural events over the last ten years that no one is willing to talk about.

http://www.examiner.com/

I’m willing to talk about it. Alien abductions are on the rise. Pompeii was recently buried in ash. San Francisco was destroyed by an earthquake and fire. Butterflies have been attacking Great White Sharks. 50 million starved to death in China. Galveston was destroyed by  a hurricane. Hundreds of millions killed by plague and smallpox.

There can be little doubt that the world is more severe now. Some days now the air conditioner lets the temperature get up over 70 degrees.

“It’s July. It’s Illinois. It’s hot. It’s normal.”

It’s July. It’s Illinois. It’s hot. It’s normal.

But 75 years ago, summer 1936 was anything but normal for Springfield and the rest of the Midwest.

Four of Springfield’s 10 hottest days ever came during July 1936, including a then-all-time high of 110 degrees on July 14. That record was broken on the same date in 1954, which registered a high of 112.

The temperature reached triple digits on 29 days that year, including 12 consecutive days from July 4 through 14.

Nationwide, the years 1930 through 1936 were the country’s Dust Bowl years, when drought, extreme temperatures and poor farming practices turned much of the middle of the country into a wasteland. Those years also brought heat — some of the hottest summers on record — to the country’s midsection.
