A high school friend sent me this today.
This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens once every 823 years. This is called money bags. So, forward this to your friends and money will arrive within 4 days. Based on Chinese Feng Shui. The one who does not forward…..will be without money.
That sounded ridiculous, so I checked it out. The last time that happened was 2006, and the next time after 2011 will be 2016, followed by 2022 and 2033. It happens every time July 1 falls on a Friday.
Too bad Manhattan will drown before the next one.

The water was higher 74 years ago. 74 years is less than 500 years. 74 years ago CO2 was much lower than today. Do you have to prove you are scientifically incompetent to get a job at Grist?
In 2005, the United Nation predicted 50 million refugees from the effects of global warming. Where are they?
Is the Earth warming? Data does suggest the Earth is warming as we come out of the “Little Ice Age.”
But looking at the geological record, more than 90 percent of the last 10,000 years were warmer than they are now. Both the Roman and Minoan civilizations thrived in warmer climes than seen today.
Energy conservation is a good thing. Using wind and solar and other green sources, as appropriate, are to be lauded. We should, indeed, consider ourselves stewards of this planet for both humanity and its other inhabitants.
And it is indeed possible that mankind’s activities are affecting the climate, but with the Earth having feedback loops upon feedback loops, and cycles and factors we still don’t even know about, it’s hubris to the highest degree to think we are the sole determinate of any changes.
When a theory makes predictions and those predictions do not come true, the scientific process mandates that the theory is weak or even disproven.
And when the staunchest promulgators of said theory are found to falsify evidence, drop inconvenient data sets, conspire to suppress dissent and evidence attacking their theory, thinking minds should recoil from their claims.
Where else have we seen the faithful stick with the holy writ? Oh, yes, creationism.
Today’s warmists are exactly like creationists, retreating to the faith in the face of contradictory evidence and outright fraud.

I’ve summarized how the politics of Global Warming has evolved. Now I’m wondering whether the basic attack on science has become a bigger problem. The forces behind the discrediting of climate science, who were motivated by fear of losing their obscenely large incomes, might now be a little worried over their success, which spilled over to science in general. The first eight years of this century in the USA were a steady march back to the dark ages of science, particularly in earth sciences and satellites, where major projects were discontinued or accidentally destroyed.Conservative forces used the opportunity to employ the techniques and money to attack the sciences where they are fundamentally antithetical to faith-based explanations. The merchants of doubt attacked biology from the dangers of smoking to stem-cell research to evolution; physics from big-bang to anti-miracle skepticism to alternate energies; and economics from laissez-faire “freedom” to population control to establishment of the western world’s largest class division based on the super-rich oligarchy and the rest of us.
The huge input of political money demonstrated that democracy doesn’t work (the most money wins, and has even won the supreme court); that lack of scientific ‘certainty’ justifies ignoring the science (Copenhagen climate change solutions were no-starters); that stolen e-mails can be distorted to insinuate myopic hysteria (as at least three scientific organizational investigations have concluded); and new scientific solutions for energy and conservation are unproven, and therefore not worth the investment.
It is clear that the big oil money perturbation has not done the same destruction to Europe and Asia, and they may take up the mantle.

The assault force of Navy SEALs snatched a trove of computer drives and disks during their weekend raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound, yielding what a U.S. official called “the mother lode of intelligence.”
They knew it was “the mother lode of intelligence” without having any clue what it was.
In an April 11 Las Vegas Sun article, “Winter Arctic ice coverage hits record low,” it was reported from Anchorage, Alaska that the surface area of ice in the Arctic Ocean reached its second lowest level during a winter period in thirty years–the lowest was five years ago. Disney Corporation and National Geographic films have been showing ice cascading away, breaking free, and melting from both northern and southern caps for several years. Their point is that the home “turf” for both penguins in the south and polar bears in the north is disappearing. These animals are struggling to survive and it is due to changes in Earth’s climate.
Heart wrenching! Those poor creatures just can’t find any ice. Life at the poles used to be so easy before we messed it up for them.
