Met Office : November 2010 Was The Coldest Since 1993
It is very unusual for a period of easterly winds to bring such heavy and prolonged snowfall. In fact for November, the amounts of snow this year have been the heaviest and most widespread in the UK since 1993 and the deepest November snow since 1965. Some of the highest snowfalls at 0900 on 30 November were at Nunraw, Scottish Borders with 44 cm and Kielder Castle, Northumberland with 40 cm. One reason why we have seen such large amounts of snow is that the pressure is much lower than normal allowing the air to rise and form deeper clouds, therefore producing heavier showers.
This cold spell has produced a minimum temperature of minus 18 °C in Wales and a provisional UK mean temperature which indicates that this November is likely to be the coldest across the UK since November 1993.

Met Office : December 2010 Was The Sixth Coldest Month In The Last 100 Years
Record cold December 2010
5 January 2011 – Provisional figures from the Met Office issued today reveal that December 2010 has become the coldest December across the UK since the national series began in 1910.
The mean temperature for the UK has been -1.0 °C, well below the long term average of 4.2 °C. The previous coldest December in the series was 0.1 °C, in 1981.
The provisional UK, England and Wales figures for December 2010 show that the month was the coldest month since February 1986. In Scotland it was the coldest month since February 1947, and in Northern Ireland the coldest month on record.
December 2010 saw some exceptionally cold and snowy weather across much of the country, with temperatures quite regularly falling to between -10 and -20 °C overnight. Many places also saw temperatures struggling to get above freezing by day.
In the last 100 years, the UK has experienced five colder months – January 1940, February 1947, January 1963, February 1963 and February 1986.

Lindzen : ” when data conflicts with models, a small coterie of scientists can be counted upon to modify the data”
The problem of data integrity has recently been commented on by MIT’s Dr. Richard Lindzen, “Inevitably in climate science, when data conflicts with models, a small coterie of scientists can be counted upon to modify the data…That the data should always need correcting to agree with models is totally implausible and indicative of a certain corruption within the climate science community.”
